I believe that he will some day be a coach, but his play isn’t worthy of a roster spot over a minimum salary replacement.
He's a so-so vet backup and decent on STs. I agree his current contract was an overpay and he's replaceable. I still wouldn't be surprised to see him brought back this summer at some point on a vet minimum deal if Pace is unsatisfied with depth at the position.
When you get past Mack & Floyd, its pretty much a wasteland. Lynch is not likely to be retained (and he's hurt too often) so all we have no is Fitts and Irving, neither pf whom has shown anything yet.

Sounds like a retirement message. Would make sense for a guy like him who won't make much more than vet minimum to grind down STs plays. I know, given the same situation, I'd rather transition early to coaching if I ever had any intentions to do so. Guys are getting big gigs very young.
