No cooking this time. Myself and Mrs JABF have been displaced from our home for the past month while it is being renovated. No fancy cooking until we get to move back home. All of our furniture (and my TV) are in storage :-(
So what did you guys end up having? And when can you move back?

We had a Papa Murphys pizza and a root beer. Actually, I enjoyed just being with Mrs JABF watching the game. She's become a good football buddy over the years. When we married, she knew zero about football. Now she's pretty sharp about the game - and she really is a die hard Bears fan. I've totally corrupted the poor woman :-)
We hope to be back in our home in a week, but it could be a bit longer. A 3 week project ended up being a 6 week project. But I told the people doing the work that I'd rather have it done right than fast. They have worked hard and long hours every day, but we found a few surprises (some termite damage) and we added a few extra things to the job list also. So it's not their fault the project is taking longer.
We are getting ready to go over to the house now. We go every morning and late afternoon. That way we can touch base with the workers. They are just finishing the flooring today. We put in bamboo flooring. That stuff is hard to work with, but mighty pretty. The painters have one more week to put a finish coat on everything. Plumbers are back tomorrow and will finish up everything (I hope). Electrical is done. Furniture comes out of storage this weekend. At least I hope so. It could be the following weekend. There will be a few minor things left, but we can at least live in our home while that stuff gets finished.
going to make a braised beef shank. not 100% sure what I'm doing, going to wing it based in 3 or 4 recipes u saw. then massed potatoes

braised it in beefstock promigranite cran juice red wine vinager soy sauce and worstchesiere cause. along with onions celery and carrots garlic and some other herbs/spices. biased it for like 3 hours.
At halftime. The steak was great. About half way through the bottle of chianti and I really don't care who wins the freaking game! But I did have a couple of Moscow Mules while cooking.
Grilled steak is always a great choice.
I haven't talked about this much on the board but I am recovering from a pretty significant back surgery (a week before Christmas) and while I feel way more better, I can't stand over the stove or the counter in heavy food prep for 2+ hours. So I gotta keep it pretty simple.
Being from central Texas, I have a few chili recipes myself. Most of mine are Tex-Mex and don't use any tomatoes at all. We use the smoked/dried red Mexican chiles for color and spice. My family is really flexible on the meat as well. Beef, venison, and any sort of game you may have on hand.
