It looks like it will survive the Illinois winters and salt on the roads, without rusting. I like that. Alex says it gets great gas mileage too.
I hope I win it. Then I can tell Mrs JABF that my time is well-spent on the Bears messageboard.
Now that I think about it, maybe Alex should include a vacuum cleaner as the 2nd prize. It could help us with the wives if we could give 'em a really nice gift like that.
1a) If posters didn't quite grasp the concept of depth, they do now. No matter how impressive the front 7 looked on paper, when injuries started mounting depth was exposed. IMO depth is a question of scouting, drafting well in rounds 4-7, UDFA, and the smart FA signing. How has Pace done in this area? Your opinion may vary.
1b) Remember on the board-that-shall-not-be-named when some of us were yelling that the OFF needed help too and we were told 'With Langford, Miller, Jeffery and White the OFF is set." We were also told "White is going to have better stats than Jeffery" and "White will appear in more games than Jeffery." Hows that going?
2) Those of us who are Hoyer supporters are now placed in an awkward position if the Bears lose or squeak out a victory. Right now Hoyer is the man because he's protected the football and the team is 1-1 under his leadership. He was also praised because the players 'looked like they played better' with Hoyer under center. So..what happens if they lose?
3) Those of us who supported Cutler are also in an awkward position. What happens if Bears win no matter how Hoyer plays? Isn't our position that despite the turnovers Cutler gives the team the better chance to win? So if Hoyer throws 2 picks and loses a fumble and the Bears win 14-13...does he keep starting?
4) No one has still answered this question..if Meredith plays well in Whites absence, lets say over the next 8 games he puts up 500 yards with 3 TDs, does he continue to start if/when White comes back? What if White is out all season, and Meredith finishes with 700 yards and 5 TDs. Does Meredith go into the off season as the starter opposite Jeffery (if Jeffery is resigned of course) while White moves down the depth chart? Because its production that matters right? Fox said so. Can't tell me its different because its really not. Production is production. (All numbers are based on around 55 yards a game, which is just above Whites average this season.)
5) When does Fangio get questioned about the lack of development for Floyd. Wasn't part of this coaching staff's appeal the fact that they were good teachers?
My prediction:
I still don't have a clue about this team, especially with so many role players forced into starting positions. I think its a one score game so I'll say Bears by just more than a FG. You can add the actual numbers.

Man gets a car, wife a vacuum cleaner, how very early 50's... I love it

Actually, I did buy Mrs JABF a vacuum cleaner this past week. I put the thing together and she asked me to demonstrate it for her (it had some whizz bang features). So I did in one room. She asked for me to show her some more by doing another room - just to be sure she understood it all correctly. So I did that. When it was all over, she had conned me into doing the entire house. She thanked me for doing the vacuuming job for the week :-)
I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Mrs JABF definitely has my number.
I don't remember anyone thinking White would have a better year or play in as many games as Jeffery. White was starting to play really well the last few weeks. He stated that he felt like he was just really starting to get comfortable and play w/speed.
500 yds and 3 td's in 8 games as the #2 isn't going to secure anyone a starting gig.
Floyd's wasn't day 1 ready, he just has a super high ceiling. Him starting b/c of injuries doesn't change what his flaws were. He didn't need extensive playing time, he needed weight and strength.
Depth has been a huge issue for awhile, dating back to Lovie; but the starters were young and healthy enough to hide it.
Just a sample from people who also post here. I'll leave names out:
Jeffery 700 yards
White 950 yards
Last year was contract year as well for him so yes. I believe he can't help these injuries. White will shine a bit with him gone showing hope for a better tomorrow.
With White and Braverman do we really need to overpay for Jeffery?

I've never got the hang of the bush trimmer. I was wondering if you might be able to show me how that works?
