Both are going to be FA this year. With limited cap space we can't afford to keep both without losing someone.
Massie is too important to let him walk. So it goes down to Amos or Callahan? One has a broken foot while the other is in a position that has been losing value in the NFL. Both have been consistent. Who do we choose to keep?
I wish Callahan could stay healthy, but despite his injury issues I think he's still a better player at a position that's a bit tougher to replace than Amos at S. So, I'd go for Callahan if it really came down to the two of them.

Is he? I feel like OL is our weakest position on the team and needs to be upgraded.
Personally I'd like to see both Callahan and Amos back, because I doubt we can get someone like Jimmie Ward.
It's players like this, Massie/Amos/Callaghan that you likely will have to let walk and hope they can be replaced by cheaper rookies or FA's. Its the middle of the road guys that get cut out when you have a few high priced players and need to possibly pay a franchise qb in a few years.

I agree on Massie but don't think OL was a major weakness. Having said that, Pace needs to draft an OT for sure and maybe a OG in the 7th for future development. A lot depends on what they do with Kyle Long. Will he re-negotiate? I thought Witzman did a decent job in relief and TBH Long didn't look so good in the WC game though admittedly he was up against Fletcher Cox who's one of the best DTs in the league.
Can't pay everyone of course so I would hope Pace will focus on re-signing Callahan and Amos (in that order) over Massie and Lynch. C & A are both homegrown talents (UDFA signing/draft pick) and both are entering their prime years in their mid-20s. They should be the priorities IMO. Massie is 30. He had a good year and has been very durable no question so sure I'd like to keep him but if the market price is too high, then he would be the one I'd let walk. The Bears should be drafting an OT in the 3rd or 4th round and have Coward as well. If Massie leaves, they need to replace him with a cheaper option.
Lynch had a decent year as well but got injured again which has been his issue (availability) last 3 seasons. If he can be retained cheaply, I'm all for it, but otherwise need to find another option. Mack is already getting huge money and Floyd probably will need paying in a year. Gotta think about future needs and signings. Let's also remember Whitehair is now 3 years in and probably want to keep enough space free to extend him in TC this year like they did Hicks, Goldman, etc in past seasons.

Who do we replace Massie with?
We're very limited in draft picks as it is.
I like to see both Callahan and Amos back as well but Amos plays at a position that seems to be losing more and more value in the NFL. Just look at last year's safeties in FA.

I think there is a possibility of bringing in a RT this coming year. Massie is a 4th round pick. Our other tackle, Leno, is a 7th round pick. With Harry Hiestand coaching our young OL players, I think it is reasonable to believe he can get a guy to Massie's level pretty quick - and hopefully it will be a guy with a higher ceiling than Massie. I'm not hating on the guy, but just thinking he is the weak link on the OL right now.

?
I've been saying for years that Massie is the weakest link. I agree he played better this year than years past, but he still isn't good enough. I've heard rumors that there is a singer named Beyonce and that she sang a song called "Upgrade". Massie needs to be upgraded.

I think it’s easier to find a quality NB than a durable quality S. Bush played pretty well to close out the season in Jackson’s absence, but he’s the same age as Amos and far shy of his experience. I’d like to keep Amos, and safety's salaries have been pretty manageable outside of the Eric Berrys of the world, but NBs don’t make that much either. Both isn’t out of the question unless someone really values the hell of of Bryce's NB play or thinks he can play outside.
Regardless, DB needs to be a huge point of focus in the coming drafts.

Amos has been a very solid player for us and hardly ever out injured. I'd put him ahead of Callahan who has been great but injured a lot. I hope we keep Massie too. But also am hopeful that Coward has taken a step forward.
