I have an idea, and stop me if I'm wrong here, because I haven't seen this done anywhere else... maybe we can create a minor catch-phrase and start calling these guys "Sports Heels" a'la, wrestling heels.
Guys like Cowherd, La Canfora, Lombardi... legacy guys like Jay Mariotti and Dan Bernstein and the Rick Flair of Sports Heels, Stephen A. Smith, all appear to have no other purpose other than to rile up the Meatballs and casual, uninformed sports fans. These asshats exist because they generate Rage Clicks for their respective site hosts and channels, nothing else. That's all they're there for. If it wasn't for shows like Boers & Bernstein, The Score would have died years ago, even with North & Buffone.
Meh. Whatever. Cowherd is a sports heel and a hypocrite and I don't give a shit what he has to say.
I'm with Mats. As analysts go Cowherd is like a pimple on the ass of anyone who actually knows football. I don't follow him or give a rip what his viewpoints are. I might just as well be listening to some wing nut conspiracy theorist.

matsellah @soulman wow you guys have really strong feelings about this. ^^
Personally I like Cowherd's show, pretty much the only sports media personality I listen to on a regular basis simply because he's the only one holding people accountable, even high profile athletes. Not to mention that he's authentic and sticks to sports unlike First Take or Undisputed where they spend a ridiculously amount of time discussing politics and snowflake issues.
Has he been wrong before? Of course, who hasn't? He's just giving his opinion on stuff - kinda like what we've been doing for years on this board.

For me, the authentic guy is the guy who'll eat crow on the air versus the sports heel, who'll just come up with some excuse or theoretical scenario to justify his "original statement." It's obvious I don't watch Cowherd because he's done that. And I guess what's compounding it all this year is the absolute bullshit these guys are creating when it comes to the Bears and specifically Trubisky. It's as if he has to meet a higher aspiration or that they refuse to admit this team has turned around in less than a full season. They keep moving the goal posts and every time Trubs has a bad game (full stop: ALL QBs have bad games), they jump up and down about being "right!" and that he's not Mahomes or Watson and needs this massive intensive care support system the Bears have in place.
These are the same guys that will fawn over Brady, even though Kraft and the Patriots have done the. same. exact. thing.
Now, this is heresy, but I'll tell you that the only so-called GOATS I will give props to is Rodgers, because the Packers completely squandered their chances to rival New England/Pittsburg in the modern-day dynasty department (which I'm absolutely giddy about) by ignoring FA and allowing his support system to erode, and Brees, because Brees is the shit. The litmus test is simple; pick any one team - doesn't matter which one, but it does matter which era or time-frame. Anyway, you pick just one and then consider how they would do with any other QB. Time and again, it's Brees that consistently improves any team and does better than any other QB on his team.
Okay, went off on a tangent there. The bottom line is, Cowherd may do it now, but in the past (and I did watch his program), he never acquiesced and just seems to have upped his heel profile since then.
Aaron Rodgers is throwing off a gimpy leg and it's making routine stuff hard. He doesn't trust his guys so he is holding the ball longer and his Coach isn't helping him out. AR is still a guy that can single handedly win a game, esp in GB. GOAT is subjective but i'd take him over Brady because he did more with worse coaching. they are both easily top ten qbs all time. I love Brees story more than either Brady or AR and feel he dodged the hell SD has been for another gifted QB we've been fortunate enough to watch: Rivers.
