I don't want a guy who has a bad knee on this team. Mcphee has never been the same after he got hurt. Why should we keep him? At best he's a rotational OLB and with a real shot at drafting Garrett do we really need that?

Side question. How much did Mcphee play in that Packer game? From the looks of practice his knee looks bad.

Royal yet again got hurt while also isn't the future. What need is he here? Didn't we sign him because of Cutler?

Garrett would replace Houston and Young was extended most likely to replace Mcphee.

Mcphee might be a leader but is he worth an extra 7+ million a year for a rotational OLB at best who has a bad knee?

Or you have the real nuclear option to cut all injury prone players like Houston/McPhee and push the rebuild out until 2018. Either way I don't see anything positive developing until Fox is gone. Oh well sigh....

I get your reasoning but you need to remember that depth has been a major issue with this team. They can't keep getting rid of players that actually have starting talent even if they can't play every down. If you get rid of all those guys then you just have a really young and thin roster. Injuries will happen again next year whether you like it or not and the Bears need to start setting their roster up for it.

True but is it worth keeping a guy with a knee that might hold him back from his old self? Houston ACL injury in the same leg back to back also pretty much guaranteed his last season here. With both gone that's around 11+ million in extra cap space.

I rather we get as much cap as possible to sign more legit talent from this years FA.

Getting rid of some players is fine but not too many. I don't believe the Bears have many issues with cap going into next season.
