When this drama began, I thought Bell was making the right call sitting out for a long term deal. He averaged 351 touches a year, and showed he can run, catch, and block at a very high level. They lined him up in the slot ~15% of the time, showing versatility as well.
Now that the season is playing out, I have doubts he made the right decision. Pittsburgh plugged in James Connor and their offense is producing the same results. They're certainly not going to miss his contract demands searching for work elsewhere.
The question becomes, who will?
Currently Devonta Freeman, Todd Gurley and David Johnson are the only starting RBs playing on their second contract. The rest are on rookie contracts or bargain deals. Teams are finding efficiency with the RBBC, and don't value "bell cow" RBs the way they used to.
What side of the fence are you on? Did he make the right decision? Or did he screw himself out of a big payday in the future?

It's worse than that. Their offense is even better now than last year. Conner already has 10 rush TDs this season (and it's just week). Bell has never scored more than nine rush TDs in a season.
