"The Chicago Bears elevated tight end Ben Braunecker from the practice squad Saturday afternoon. Braunecker was an undrafted free agent out of Harvard following this past year’s draft. He had been waived from the regular roster by Chicago prior to the start of the regular season.
Defensive lineman CJ Wilson, who was signed earlier this week likely to step in the place of the injured Jonathan Bullard, was waived in turn."
I'd say this is another indication either Fox (or Pace has requested it) has decided if he can't win he might as well get the younger guys as much experience as he can now so if he's right about that second year jump these guys will have that first years experience now.
It seems to have worked with a kid like Jacoby Glenn although he was just a PS guy but it did with Callahan too and even Leno looks at least marginally better than he was last year. At this point we might as well play them because we have nothing to lose that hasn't already been lost and it does give the crafty bastard even more of an excuse to hide this year behind injuries and inexperience again.
I must admin, I was really hoping to see this guy play, hopefully he will in the next few weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed that he turns put a solid TE for us
I know some don't like Pace but you got to admit the dude made this team a lot younger.
We used to be 30th in the NFL and now we're at 10th.
It's not Pace I have a problem with it's Fox but then just getting younger unless that also makes you better isn't a worthwhile goal IMHO either. Do you remember George Allen and his "Over The Hill Gang" when he coached Washington. He traded away his picks for Pro Bowl vets. I think there has to be a balance and with the Bears there is.
Maybe the real annoyance comes from seeing back to back 1st round picks who appear to be major projects. If either had shown any indication of being even average I think many would be less critical but the lag in KW's development hurts the offense and Floyd is add nothing to the pass rush at all so far and he's also not a great run stopper. How that jives with trading up to take the kid number one is beyond me. I never liked the pick at all.

Truth. I don't give a shit about the avg. age of our players. I do care about the record our team puts together any given year.
I imagine successful teams have a strong balance of exp. talented veteran leaders and young talented players who clearly fit the scheme and understand and can execute the desires of their competent coaches.
