Don’t expect: Jordan Howard to suddenly become LaDainian Tomlinson
Yes, Howard’s first carry Sunday night against the Cowboys was impressive, a 36-yard burst in which he found a huge hole on the right side of the field and exploded into the open field. Those are the kinds of flashes the Bears need to see from their rookies and other young building blocks. But the Bears also need those flashes to become sustained success. After that big play – the Bears’ longest run all season – Howard had eight more rushes. The log: 1 yard, -1, -3, 0, 1, -3, 14, 0.
Howard should see extended time Sunday against the Lions, who have the league’s 21st-ranked run defense. Langford’s absence opens the door. And a lingering hamstring injury for Ka’Deem Carey is also a factor. (Carey didn’t even travel with the Bears to Dallas.) But as assertive as Howard can appear in bursts, he still has a way to go to become a consistent force.
I spend a lot of time on fantasy football forums and the amount of people who think he's going to be a lot better than Langford is ridiculous. I think he's going to be good but there's just this blind hatred for Langford this year that is odd. Langford is more of a product of a bad team than lack of talent.

To be honest, I don't know what to think about the entire RB situation.

What happened in the fantasy community is everyone read an article about how Langford was one of the worst RBs in the NFL even though he did just fine for fantasy owners. This year people see the shiny new Howard and expect him to be better because Langford is supposedly so bad. When Howard gets in everyone sees him rattle off some huge gains and the love fest begins. What everyone failed to see is how Howard got those big gains and what happened when the huge holes were not there for him.
I'm not trying to put down Howard or Langford here. I've just been trying to make everyone aware of the situation. I still think Howard is good along with Langford but they need better blocking and play calling.

Unless the guy is a 5 time pro bowler the next guy up is always better don't you know.
I'll also point out that 36 yard run of his was caused by a gaping hole in the line that any RB would have taken as far. Jordan looks like he might have some real upside but people need to cool off on declaring Langford dead in the water.

Exactly right and I'm glad some people realize this. Howard may be pretty darn good but he certainly hasn't done anything to prove it yet, not like some seem to think. Not only did he have that 36 yard run through a huge hole he also had a 14 yard run through another huge hole. His other 7 carries were all 3 yards and less, two of them were -3 each.

they fantasy football hype is going against the lions and getting more carries. he could give you ten points in a league that gives 6 for tds just by being in around the goal line. in college he averaged over 5ypc and was a featured weapon.

Opportunity is what makes him so attractive in fantasy football. Being on the Bears is what scares away all the others. I really hope he plays well along with the OL.

I've pointed this out about Langford as well. The only reason our team ypc is over 4 is a few long runs out of few running plays at all. Take those away and we average about 1 ypc. Can't play ball control football that way.
