It's still PFF and their line grades are still a joke, but really no surprise, for once the eye test and their grades match up. Whitehair is probably graded a bit high, but that DL for Dallas isn't anything special.
Yup I was going to point out we just played one of the worst D-lines in football. You know besides our own.
Whitehair's future looks good here in Chicago. Pace seems to be 2/2 for second round picks so far. Now hopefully he finds a tackle next year to replace Massie.
Monsters are those their grades for just week three or for three games through week three? Sorry I just reread this and this seems to answer my question.
EDIT; #Bears interior O-line looking strong through Week 3, with rookie Cody Whitehair the ninth-highest graded NFL center this season.
Once we get Grasu back, would it be a good thing to try Whitehair at RT? He played LT at a pretty high level in college (First Team All Big 12 LT in 2015 and Second Team All Big 12 LT in 2014) and maybe e could be a decent RT.
He would have to be better than Massie, that's for sure.
This solution might be better than Massie.
I think it's hard to say what they might do next year because we have no idea who the prospects will be. I would doubt they'd move Whitehair to RT or LT if there are other choices. He doesn't really have the physical traits of an OT other than he obviously does know how to block.
Besides if he's the 9th highest graded OC in the NFL three games into his rookie year how good can he be after even more experience? Grasu may end up as a backup OC/OG for now or be coached at LG to eventually replace Sitton.

Aw shucks Ric are you just po'd this is tending to prove Slauson would be sitting even of he was still here. And this is a rookie after just 3 games whose never played OC before in his career. Let's praise Pace for the fact that so far his 2nd round picks have turned out far better than his 1st round picks and hope from now on he trades down like JA liked to do. LOL
While I tend to agree with you overall about PFF OL grading it's still worthwhile as a relative measure of how the play of one Bears OL compares to another Bears OL so there is value in that. It's also a combined rating for 3 games not just the Dallas game. I think Massie actually rated much higher against them based on the single game grades I saw.

I dont know that ot proves anything if we are taking these pff grades serious slauson has graded high also, i believe he was the top center one of the first 2 weeks. But i dont really hold what pff says about line play serious bc they dont take system into consideration.

I still wonder if Pace even has full control over the first round picks. Dude seems to find great talent in the 2nd while his first round picks have been a joke.

Good question but I have no real answer. If you want an instinctive hunch though that I can do.
It seems to me like Fox keeps discarding higher price offensive talent he doesn't want and Pace has to scramble to replace them. When you trade or release perennial pro bowlers it's tough to replace them with lower round picks.
BM get traded so we need a WR. I would have taken Cooper but that wasn't an option so KW was next man up.
MF gets released and I truly believe Pace would have taken Elliott had he been available but once again he gets scooped up before our pick so he's forced to trade up for Floyd after Stanley, Buckner, and Conklin fall before NYG grab yet another yet he likes. I would have traded down at that point rather than up.
