I predict Ernie Accorsi will not be asked by the Bears to provide advice again.
The idea of bringing in Accorsi seemed like a good idea to me. It sure beat the past ways they handled this kind of thing. When we had Pace as the new GM, and Fox, Gase & Fangio as our new coaches, I was a mighty happy camper. I don't think anyone expected things to end up like this. I sure didn't.
I really feel for you guys... You're a good bunch of people... I know it doesn't seem like it now but things will get better... Some times things get worse before they get better.

No, I sure didn't either. With the traditional McCaskey blundering, I thought it was good to bring in an expert. This seems to have backfired too.ive been saying for years that the team needs new ownership. I fear that is the root of our ineptness. If Pace truly was hogtied to fox, out can only be ownership. Gm after gm, coach after coach, what is the common denominator?

I hope so. We got Loggains as a new OC, who doesn't seem to have a clue. Then with all of the young/new players on the team we had a tough situation this year, even before all of the key injuries hit us. You add the three together (Loggains, and basically a new roster since Pace arrived, and then the killer injuries) well, nothing good is going to happen with that.
Now we're all finger pointing at who is the "one" responsible for the mess. In reality it's probably more than just a "Fox thing" but people are not going to buy that right now because they're crazy angry with the situation.
Did you guys not see we got destroyed by not one but two rookie QBs back to back? Our defense is hurt and our Offense can't make any adjustments.
Who on this schedule can you honestly say we have a shot at beating?
Sure SEEMED like this was going to be a better team . Another draft , year 2 with a coach who has a track record , a supposed influx of more talented players on D , a DC with a good track record , year 2 in the 'system' for most guys , etc etc ....
.... now I'll be surprised if we have more than 4 . C'est la vie .

I thought it be a better year as well but with injuries happening and our offense not able to move the ball down the field I don't us winning that many.
How much of John Fox's track record is really legit? Meaning without Peyton Manning. I made a post in another thread saying this:
- Fox's record without Manning was ( 87 wins - 92 loses )
- Fox has never had a back-to-back winning seasons as HC except when he has had Manning
- Fox has only put up 3 winning seasons as HC without Manning
- After putting up 1300 yards and 11 TD's as one of Mannings Favorite receivers, Fox let him walk to FA and got nothing when the Jets picked him up.
- After an 11 sack, pro-bowl season, Fox let Peppers walk to FA. The Panthers then went on to have their worst defense since Fox took over. Dropping from #9 overall to #26.
- He was also part of the brain-trust that traded their first round pick in 2010 to the 49ers for their 2nd and 4th round picks the year before.
- His best offense ever - without Manning - was 7th in the NFL. But mostly, with Carolina, they hovered in the bottom half on the NFL including: 26th in 2007, 27th in 2006, 30th in 2002, and 32 (worst) in 2011. So our 30th ranked O last year was not an anomaly.
Is that really a proven track record for a team like this?

Interesting when you peel the layers off the onion ( and well done ) . I posted a couple days ago that I wondered if Fox was one of these guys who has been " carried " by players and good coaches .

That is my attitude as well.. I think it will get worse before it gets better.
This is a 4 win team max IMO and as painful as it is, I think It is proactive to have the Bears bottom out rather than hover in mediocrity. 2-3 years of this trash football and we may be back into contender range with a couple smart draft picks... I'm already wishing on Ed Oliver.
Except that 2-3 of trash football means a new GM and new coaches at the end.

I didn't like the Gase hire at the time because it was already rumored that he would be a one year and gone OC. I didn't understand why Pace/Fox would want to hire one OC only to have to switch to another in a years time.
