Roquan Smith excited to play for Vic Fangio: 'He blitzes 'backers'

One of the underrated areas of Roquan Smith’s skillset is his ability to get after quarterbacks.

He had 6.5 sacks this past season, showing off how his elite athletic tools translate to rushing the passer.

He knows defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will take full advantage of his abilities, and he’s excited to get to work.

“He blitzes ‘backers,” Smith told reporters Friday. “He puts them in the best possible situations to make plays.”

Last season, Danny Trevathan and Nick Kwiatkoski both had two sacks, and Smith has the potential to do some real damage from the middle of the Bears defense.
