Well it looks like he has been deemed another proverbial 1st round bust. Ereck Flowers might worth a look if the Giants cut him. They tried to trade him during the draft and noone bit, not even a 5th or 6th. So now he is working out on his own and his 2019 5th year option has not been picked up. With Hiestand on board maybe he is worth a look certainly next year and with a change of scenery puts together a good season? His PFF rating on the left side as tackle this year was 51.9 which is horrendous. He is only 24 and will be 25 next year.
BOTTOM LINE Flowers has good size and short area foot quickness, but he also features some lower body tightness and struggles to get proper depth quickly to consistently meet edge rushers. Some of Flowers' pass protection issue may be difficult to overcome. On the hand, his strength as a run blocker and ability to uproot his man and get them turned is undeniable. Flowers may be drafted as a tackle, but his best position could end up being as a guard where I would put a draft grade on him of 6.12.

Tough to see room for yet another failed OT who needs to be tried at OG.
There's no longer a way for teams to hide a poor pass blocker at RT. Good edge rushers come from both sides.
Massie has improved his pass blocking enough to become a guy we can live with for now but I can see OT moving up on our needs list next year.

Wow, the NYG are losing OLs like an elm tree in late October, huh? They already lost Pugh and another interior starter (can’t remember his name right now) and now they’re thinking of jettisoning a T too?
I forgot who they drafted—hope for Eli’s sake it was a couple of OLs! Maybe they’re trying to hasten his retirement by getting him killed this season.

Well they signed Nate Solder and Patrick Omamameh this off season and drafted Will Hernandez...their line will be fine.
