I tried that for a few years but not because of football. It's A) much harder to kill yourself that way than you'd think, and B) ugly does not become beautiful just because you're drunk, it just makes ugly more tolerable. Trust me.

My younger brother drank until he passed away. He was a good guy. He died about 5 years ago. What a waste of a good man.

Soul: Point "B" is particularly true.
Jabf: My sympathies, A good friend of my Father's did the something similar about 15 years ago. If you want I will stop with the joke line.
As for making the season more bearable, sometime in the second quarter of last nights game I got sick of the commentators gushing over the cowgirls, so I muted the TV and tuned in 780 AM. While it didn't make the bears play better, it did make the game easier to watch... somehow...
Back in my drinking days, no make that back when I was a drunk, I recall watching a Monday night game and I think it was the Bears vs the Bucs (when they were very good) and we had Henry Burris at QB. It was ugly. Almost as ugly as the 10 sack game the Giants had against us a few years ago.
I had a full jug of whiskey when the game began and a freezer full of ice cubes. By the 4th Q the ice was mostly gone and that handle of whiskey was about half empty too but no matter how much I drank or how much I squinted at that screen I could not turn Burris into Manning.
I've long since dried out and swear I will never again allow the Bears to make me think drinking will ever make a pile of crap look like piece of homemade chocolate cake. I'm gettin' sick of even the Lions fans getting on us but I think I smell crap again not cake.

Ahhh, the joke line is fine. It doesn't bother me.
