Imo our current starting OL consists of:
Leno - Long - Whitehair - Watford - Massie
with the backups being:
Sowell - Kush - Grasu - Morgan - Greene
Now I know for a fact that most of us love the idea of Nelson at #8 because it would secure the interior line and give Mitch extra protection for the next 5-10 years. With that being said, dude is by far the best OL prospect this year and I realize that he might not be there when were on the clock. We can all discuss the chances of missing out on him but let's just say he's not gonna be a Bear. Then what?
Would you guys be onboard w/ drafting the best C in the draft and move Whitehair to G and let Long, Kush and Watford battle for the remaining OG spot?
I'm only asking because I just saw this tweet.
Daniels is supposed to get selected in the second round. What if we go defense or even WR in the first, would you rather pick Daniels or the best OT/OG available?
My hope is that we go into this season with a drafted young G at least as good as Sitton. In addition to that G, my hope is that we at least bring in a project G with the ultimate ceiling potential of Kyle Long. I'd like to believe Harry Hiestand can develop someone like this for us (a guy with the raw undeveloped talent worth investing in). I'd like to see a solid swing tackle too. This way the OL overall has a solid set of starters and a couple young studs backing them up. Now, we may have a guy on the existing roster who fills some of this bill for us. I don't know. I honestly don't know how good or bad the backup talent is now. I do figure we will probably go into the season with 7 or 8 OL. When starters go down to injury (and some will) I'd like the team to have a decent level of backup talent to Mitch doesn't get killed, and our run game can still be strong.
If Harry wants to try the Coward as an offensive guard, go for it. Still, if we're so short on sure fire OG that we have to convert a depth DT to play the position we better be all in on OG in the draft.

I just want the OL to go into the season the way they lined up in pre-season. None of this Fox/Loggains playing with positions the week before the season starts. AND pick a position for Whitehair and don't move him again.
No and apparently before the draft some teams saw him as a OL, its possible KC was one of those teams.dude is 6 6 320, so if he isnt working out at the 5 tech why not move him?
