I'm torn about trading down. It may be the best option, but then I think about keeping our pick and getting a truly elite player. I'm not talking about a very good player, but an elite player like we used to have. Maybe even an elite guy who could eventually be a Hall of Fame level player... we used to have those guys. But I get it that we have a lot of holes to fill and it may be best to do a trade down.
I'm just going to watch and see what the final roster looks like, and then watch the season play out this year.
I'm the same way, a guy like Fitz/Edmunds or Nelson are there it's hard to not want them. But if trading down gave you the shot at 3 great players verse 1 elite and 1 great player it's a hard decision to make.

The thing that I think about is that this may be the last year in a while that we are in fact able to get a truly elite player (unless we luck into one later in the draft). Of course, the corollary to that is that Pace may see this as the last year that he has the draft equity to trade down in a meaningful way. It's all about how you want to spin the plate.
I just hope we don’t go DB. I can handle Nelson, I’d love Vea and there’s four LBs that are top 10 worthy.
We definitely have options. If we would stop creating new holes, we could actually get somewhere.
That’s the crap that drives me crazy. Maybe, as is leaking out now, the Bears were concerned about Meredith’s recovery for months. Ok, if you’re prob letting him go and drafting a replacement, that’s fine. How about keeping Christian Jones then? Or maybe even Josh Sitton?
I get that you sometimes have to let players go, for a variety of valid reasons. Problem is, I feel that Pace has spent an inordinate amount of time and resources chasing his tail to backfill holes he himself helped create. It gets really hard to “move the needle” consistently forward that way.
I would hate that. A 1st round pick, QB excepted, needs to start week 1. A corner is the one place where we have good starters and decent depth.
I’m all for defense in the 1st, my preference in fact, but I’d much rather take Nelson than a CB.
We have depth for 1 yr. Prince is on a 1 yr deal. Depends on what they could get in the 2nd for OG. Billy Price would bena great OG or OC also, maybe not Nelson but when's the last time you talked about the multi time all pro og leading his team to a SB?
What da...? Prince just signed a 3y contract and 28, cmon!

Sorry, brain is 3 steps from dead, you are correct thanks.
I want them to take Chubb, Roquan Smith or Tremaime Edmunds but would be good with a Nelson selection.
Other than that I'd hope for a trade down.
If they trade down Davenport, Ridley, Landry, Wynn all become options.
If I were to predict the pick, I think it's Smith and not just as a fave pick. I think Nick K is fine but is more backup material who doesn't have versatility and Tre is a huge injury issue. Fangio needs a chess piece and Smith gives him that. He's that hybrid safety LB with instincts and scheme flexibility. I think Fangio need/wants that and I think Fang gets what he wants.

If you look at ILB, I would only look at Tre Edmunds. Not that Smith is bad, but I think Edmunds as the ability to handle WR's, TE's and RB's in coverage better then Smith can.

I agree, Edmunds >> Smith for us if it comes down to that choice.

I think Vea is the best pick for this team, but I’ll never convince anyone of that. I just think he would make our DL dominant, and that goes a very long way for a young D to step up toward elite. Look at the Jags.

I like Vea a lot. I think there is a ton of ways the Bears could go at 8; or trading back a little. A lot of good players in this draft, Vea is just one of many imo.
