Add wide receiver Alshon Jeffery to the growing list of injury concerns for the Chicago Bears.
Chicago’s leader in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (201) through two weeks, Jeffery, who was limited on Wednesday, missed all of practice on Thursday due to a knee injury.
"It's just something that we will monitor," Bears coach John Fox said"
Jeffery has been the Bears only consistent weapon on an offense that ranks 31st overall, 30th in points scored and 29th in passing offense.
He is ninth in the league in receiving yards since 2013 (3,562), and in only four-plus years, is seventh all-time in receiving yards in Bears history. Jeffery recorded his 13th 100-yard receiving yards after catching four balls for 105 yards versus Houston in Week 1.
Despite the setback, there is still a strong chance Jeffery plays in Week 3. But Jeffery’s latest issue – he sat out seven games in 2015 – intensifies the health problems plaguing the Bears (0-2) as they prepare to take on the Dallas Cowboys (1-1).
The team is already expected to be without starting quarterback Jay Cutler (thumb), inside linebacker Danny Trevathan (thumb surgery) and nose tackle Eddie Goldman (high ankle sprain) on Sunday night at AT&T Stadium, plus important members of the secondary, safety Adrian Amos and nickel back Bryce Callahan, remain in the NFL’s concussion protocol.
The Bears also officially placed outside linebacker Lamarr Houston on injured reserve on Thursday because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Houston topped the Bears with eight sacks last year.
