The Bears are not a lucky team. In all my years of following them they never have been and after awhile you can only listen to those post game "we were this close" speeches or a HC at his presser who says after getting whipped week one "we're close I can see it" and then watch his team go out an play even worse week two against and even more inferior team and shake your head.
John Fox's health may be fine but he does need an eye exam and a new prescription because what he's seeing an what I'm seeing aren't the same thing at all. Not even close so I'm wondering if someone is slipping old Broncos game films into his A/V machine and that what's he basing this folly on. His health may be fine but his team is sick and he's it doc.
With another injury report that looks like we were the victims of an Al Queda bombing I guess we get to test out just how well his next man up system works. We know it works in NE but this isn't NE. I guess my problem with that is since we can't even get the front line guys to step up and play 60 minutes of competitive football just how much faith should we have in the next men up?
I agree that things are not as bas as some are making out. Some of these injuries are hurting though. No doubt about it. How do you replace Goldman now? You really don't and so you have a lesser product on the field. But much of what I see can be fixed by repetition and coaching. I have faith that Fangio can do that. I do not have that faith in Loggains at this point and not sure I ever will unless he starts to show me something other than suck (Ric will comment on that for sure).
Fox is also capable of keeping the team up as much as any coach can at this point. At some point, if winning does not happen, all the some up the ass stuff that Fox is spewing will no longer keep up morale. At some point, winning is the only thing that will instill confidence. I do not think we are there yet, but a few more blowout losses and I think we may get there.
At the end of the season, Pace and Fox will undoubtedly give Loggains his walking papers if he is not OC material.
I am not convinced ot this for two reasons.
I am not sure that Fox would unload one of his guys. I don't have a track history on him though in that regard
Second, "not OC material" is a subjective target. While fans might say he is not OC material, Fox could very well come out and say that he felt Loggains did an excellent job considering injuries or any number of reasons he could use to mitigate a bad year. I do think that if Fox is convinced that Loggains was to blame for a bad O, that he would get rid of him. I am not convinced that he would be ogjective enought to do that though.

Those are all good points. We'll just have to see how the season goes, and what moves the Bears make after the season. Regarding Loggains, Pace will step in if Fox tries to protect Loggains after it is evident he isn't the OC for the Bears. Pace's job is on the line here in Chicago - and if he fails, he may never get another GM position again. This is a young man getting a huge chance to prove himself. I have zero doubt that Pace will step in if it is necessary. Pace strikes me as being a pretty sharp guy. He will do the right thing.

I think your right JBAF.. Pace I believe can be cut throat if need be. He looks like he has that killer instinct in his eyes and if push come to shove, I think he will strike out at his staff if need be. I imagine it is pretty hard to raise up that NFLteam corporate ladder and I'd be damned if he won't do what is necessary to protect his job. He really has no ties to Fox other then the hire.

+1 Yeah, I think we will see Pace hold the coaches feet to the fire.
