Thanks all. I have been going through this in my mind what to say so fack it and ima just come out with it.
The past year both my Kids at home have been dealing with a bit of mental illnesses. We called the police on our 19 yr old boy last year twice for threatening himself to be spiteful to his Mom.
On Friday we found out our 15 yr old daughter has been cutting herself. Nothing to deep but she is showing intent. She is on anti anxiety medication already but we found out she was stock piling some with the thought of ODing.
We took her to Emerge on Sunday and was deemed a risk so she is in the hospital for an disclosed amount of time.
We know she needs the help but still such a shock.
Anyways thanks for the thoughts.... Soul, ya worked out that forum box meeting with your winnings?
I just saw this Bob. I'm grateful you told us, and I will definitely be praying for your family. I work at a university mental health department. I'm just an office guy, not a counselor. I am surprised by how many young people (a lot) struggle like this. I am always encouraged by how these young people do better once they get their medication right, and also with counseling. Sometimes (often) the kids don't want to take their medicine, or come to counseling, but then later change their minds and good things happen. I see these kids over a 4-year span, and it is very encouraging. My brother and I had a really rough time of it ourselves when we were the ages of your son and daughter. Looking back I can see we put our parents through hell. But they never gave up on us. I find that remarkable. Hope and pray it all takes a turn for the better. Hang in there my friend.

Thanks again man... Means a lot because of course being the Man I got to be strong lol.
Unfortunately I know what mental illness can do to people. My Mother took her own life and my Daughter has so many of the same qualities as my Mom did it just freaks me tha fack out. I know everyone is different but the similarities are uncanny.
I am not a religious person but I do appreciate the prayers, if nothing else positivity beats most so keep em coming please Anything can help.

Thanks for sharing this with us Bob. What you're describing can be challenging to say the least.
Quite a few if not all here know that I've been through my own bouts with bi-polar depressions and alcoholism. The booze is part of my past but the bi-polarity will never go away. It's my life partner but luckily through my own work and counseling I've learned to control it as best I can and minimize it's impact on daily life.
There is a strong genetic component in some mental illnesses and often it will skip a generation being passed from Grandparents to Grandchildren. This stuff is always tricky when there's both a psychological and a physiological component because both have to be dealt with conjointly there is no perfect road map to follow.
I want to encourage you to stay on top of it all as best you can and I know that you will. And if you ever need a friend to talk with whose been through his own deep issues and stared into the pit just PM me. I'm here and will do what I can to help. All of this can work out in the end but it does take time and diligence.

Sorry to hear this, Bob. I know how rough this is for you. Last year I lost my mother-in-law to a 5+ year battle with Parkinsons and dementia, My dad has dementia and my mother just had a heart attack. She's been in and out of the hospital and is now in a rehab center. I have a nephew who is in jail for drugs - using, selling, and beating up his mother. As you understand, you have to be strong. There's days I think I can't take much more, and then something happens, and you do. You have to. There is no alternative. I haven't been posting as much as I used to, and what I do post isn't really very much #Bears. I'm trying to keep things light. Joking around is how I handle things. I too don't like to let on about my personal problems, but some days you just need a shoulder. We're here for you. Don't disappear on us. This place wouldn't be the same without you. As Red Green always says, I'm pulling for you, we're all in this together.

Lol thanks man...Our Daughter comes out of the Hospital tomorrow so the Family healing will begin. Her major problem is she is too caring, always puts others before herself and that usually leads to heartbreak. She is a very talented girl who did a 3 hour interview (Social Anxiety!!! I can not believe she did it) and got herself accepted into the Arts program of a highly respected Arts High School, Its like Fame in there LOL. I know she can figure it out, but it is heartbreaking to see her struggle with her demons.
Again thanks for all your kind words. You all make these boards feel like Home.

It is like family here Bob. It's funny how simply by bonding over a football team so many can come to care about and trust one another. This is the way the world is supposed to work. Not like a lot of the crap that's happening now.

Good news, Bob! So glad to hear that.
Every family, no matter how perfect on the outside, has “issues”. Mine is no exception. Stay strong, brother, prayers for you.
