Well, we are definitely going from one of the worst. As far as where we are going... Robinson (if healthy) is the real deal. Marshall was a stud. I feel that Robinson is right there. We had a tandem of Marshall and Jeffrey (with Jeffries coming in when needed). That right there is tough to beat.

I'll have to wait and see if We are as good as that tandem, but Gabriel is a real weapon. Trey Burton is a real weapon. I would say probably better than Bennett. I believe Shaheen is going to emerge. Merideth is pretty good. And if White actually remembers how to play WR, we will not only be better but much better. Plus we have not even discussed the two headed monster of Cohen and Howard.

Those are the weapons. But we now have Trubisky instead of Jay Cutler. As much as I like T, we don't know he is better. I think he is though. I have seen him do things in his first year that Jay did not. Now while Jay never was a "put a team on your back and win" type of QB, he was more than T was. But T was a brand new rookie in an offense that made it a point to limit his passing, so you really can't judge by what happened last year.

When you take everything into account -- and the most important thing here, one that we have not even discussed -- is the offensive coaching. THAT will make the biggest difference in our on-field performance. You can have all the right toys but if you don't put them together right, they don't work.

As a complete body, I think we are in a better place on offense than we have been possibly even during our '85 SB. But it has to be actually done. This offense could be special. We'll see in mid season. About a month into Whites next rod implant, we should have some perspective on this.

If this true, I gotta believe it’s nothing more than gauging options if Meredith leaves.  I.e., he gets some crazy offer Pace doesn’t want to match.  

Hurns and Meredith are basically the same player.  Similar size and production. Both have concerns.  Hurns had a drop off, Meredith had a season ending injury.  Both are former UDFAs.  Both are #2-3 type options.

I think this is nothing more than Pace making a backup plan and seeing who would come cheaper.  We already have 5 WRs who are roster locks/near-locks.  Hard to believe Hurns would be an option unless he was replacing Meredith.
