The contrast between Cutler and Hoyer in last nights game was night and day, and i would argue that with anyone...Hoyer was not perfect, and the sample size is small, but he looked good. He was getting rid of the ball shortly after his last drop-back step, he appeared to actually be reading the defense, and might have put up another 7 if not for the fumble in his first series.
Now I'm not advocating for Hoyer as #1, but if you aren't done with Cutler by now, you might want to get yourself mentally examined.
The things this, or any team, needs from that position will not suddenly be found in Cutler...and my hate grows deeper with ever game LoL
Seriously though! if you go back and watch the first drive of the game, Jay looks upset after the failed screen to Langford, and appears to be mouthing the words "get up there"...now i'm not sure that's what he said, but why is he upset in general? He overthrew that shit and Langford would have got killed if he "got up there"...
Bottom line, this team needs a new spark plug at the Qb position IMO...
Thing is, Hoyer came in and Eagles were not prepared for him. I expect Dallas to have his number next week, and the true Horrible Hoyer will show up. I could be wrong, I usually am, but I had all the hope beaten out of me last night.
Oh i agree which is why i said the sample size was small, and I don't support Hoyer as the #1. Opponent game prep will catch up to Hoyer if he has to make multiple starts, but how is that different from Jay...
All i am expressing is that i seriously feel there needs to be new leadership at the Qb position regardless. It's time to shuffle the deck...

#1 Ryan Clark was totally wrong unless they are making up ligament damage on Cutler's thumb on his throwing hand which he has already had season ending surgery on once (Tice era).
#2 Stephen A. has always been and will always be a big Cutler hater because Cutler and Skip both went to Vanderbilt
#3 Stephen A is EXTREMELY loud & annoying in this take....I had to turn my volume down and then turn the vid off....not because of what he was saying but because of how he was saying it. I'd rather listen to Hilary.
#4 Stephen A. (before frothing at the mouth) made a very good point in that Cutler has done less with more than any QB in the NFL. Is he the worst in the NFL? Of course not. Is Cutler the most gifted but still more often than not play as bad as some of the noodle arm, lead footed QBs in the NFL? Yep.
+1 He's definitely not the worst in the NFL. That ESPN guy loses all credibility when over-exaggerating like that. Cutler has his share of problems and he's a mid to lower-tier QB. But not the worst.
I don't even think he's in the middle or slightly below in regards of being average.
Dude has been mediocre with us for the past 6 years. His last season was a fluke and he regressed once again.
I've seen Rookie starters play just as good if not better than Cutler and Rookies have the benefit of being coached up.
I don't think last year was a fluke. Last year had a lot to do with having a really good offensive coordinator and great game plan. This year it's obvious they don't have that.
Those rookie QBs have coaches that set up a game plan specifically designed to make them succeed. They try not to let them do too much. Those rookies all still have their terrible games when playing good teams.

Yet it seems like those rookies can do a lot more in the playbook than what Cutler can. Even you can't deny that we had too many screen passes last year as a result to play it safe. Heck every OC we had for Cutler was thrown out a year after. Cutler the man known for regressing his second year under the same scheme is yet again regressing. ( Fox says we're using the same scheme )
How long are we going to defend this dude? First it was Cutler didn't have any weapons and in 2014 you can see that was not the case. Heck his backup outshine him in 2013 while Cutler came back and cost us our playoff spot.
After 7 years of his play I don't see how anyone can still defend him. I take most of the NFL QBs over Cutler and his contract...
Heck I remember in the old forum we talked about how half of the recent rookie QBs from the past few years were just as good if not better than Cutler...

I'm not trying to defend him because I think he's a great QB, I think he's proven to be pretty sub par. I defend him because a lot of the problems are due to things out of his control and being in a terrible situation. What QB would want to play for the Bears? When was the last time an offensive coordinator was able to come in and be successful for multiple years? The Bears are going to have to rely on getting a QB so talented that they can make up for the ineptitude of the rest of the organization. This is not always a QB problem but more of a Bears organization problem. I sometimes wonder how good he would be on another team because I know he has a lot of talent.

He has some talent but he can't read defenses. He is prone to making mistake after mistake ( Even the case when Gase was here ). Sure the problem isn't just QB but Cutler is also seemingly not caring anymore. He doesn't have the passion to continue playing and seems like he only does to collect that pay check he gets.
We used to say he didn't have any good weapons than in 2013-2014 he had arguably the best offensive weapons in the NFL and we still didn't make the playoffs. Now he has 2 of the best guards in the NFL with Whitehair looking pretty good at center. Yet he still is doing the same mistakes over and over. He holds onto the ball way too long, he doesn't go for the open man ( Hoyer throws more to White than Cutler ), he forces the ball to WR who ain't open.
You have to agree that if we are truly a rebuilding team why ain't we getting rid of Cutler? With how things will go the next few weeks ( I predict a 1-7 team after bye week ) this team isn't headed for much. Let's grab us a QB in the first and a Tackle in the second and truly start this rebuild.

Saying the Bears have two great guards means nothing. Long is great. Sitton has been great but has only been with the Bears for two weeks. That means they have only been in two padded practices. Whitehair has done well, for a rookie not playing his main position. The interior is not the most important part of the line for the QB though, it's the tackles and they are very, very bad right now.
I agree that the team is rebuilding and needs to replace Cutler. I don't think that means they needed to get of him though. I wish they would have grabbed a QB in the 4th round this year and put him behind Cutler this year. Taking a QB and tackle in the first rounds next year sounds just fine for me at this point.
