I think he's the best player in the draft...and I'd have a hard time passing on the best player in the draft...but yeah, I'd see if someone wanted to trade down, or was interested in trading for Howard and then I'd take Barkley.
So in that same vein let me ask this based on our inability to sign a top OG like Norwell in FA.
If Nelson is the #2 ranked player and he's available when we pick does that same logic apply? If Nelson is hands down the top ranked player still on the board at #8 would you take him or trade down for later pick?
Both of our starting OGs come with injury and/or age concerns and it's even possible that Sitton might have some trade value. Even if we do pick up his option at best this is his last year as a Bear unless he's willing to return for a backups money.
Is there anything wrong with planning ahead as we did last year when we took Mitch?
I would like to add that if we did not have the needs we do, I for sure would either take Barkley or trade down. Because if you have everyone you need, you start to go for incremental gains. So it is a balance of needs and where we are in the rebuild process that also become factors for me. Not saying I would not take him, but we have so many holes that have hindered our game. RB has not been one of them. It has actually been one of our few strengths. I would rather solidify the team, but a true generational RB is a game changer. Is Barkley that person? Not sure. If he really compares to Barry Sanders, I think you have to take him though.
Tough choice becasue I really don't want a RB.
