His act (whatever it is) is supposedly wearing on Jones Jr. He will not take a paycut.

Tony certainly his game, they kind of tailored it to one another. When Dak came in, he certainly is not going to play the game exactly like Tony played the game. I think it hasn’t ever just hit on all cylinders yet in term of how the Dak-and-Dez the connection works. I think it’s a work in progress. I think it could improve if given the opportunity.
“The other thing that we all see and it is certainly visible to anyone who watches our games, watches our sideline, is Dez is certainly a fiery guy who plays with a lot of emotion both on and off the field. Sometimes that can be a distraction. It can be a distraction for Dez, it can be a distraction for other teammates. And we just have to really get our hands around when you put all the full body of work together where that’s headed.
Guy that isn't quite as good as he thinks he is vs a guy that isn't 1/2 the GM/owner he thinks he is; and neither are budging not shocked.
No I wouldn't take Dez; he is a WR that requires the ball be thrown to him or he'll mentally check out of the game. In his eyes he is always open, no matter how many guys are on his hip.

I really don't follow his career, but I did notice that his production has declined since 2014. And he's had problems off the field. Maybe, that alone may be okay, but you'd want to be sure this is a guy who would be a good fit for Trubisky. Maybe he would and maybe he wouldn't. I don't know.

Agree, not a Dez fan. He's a diva type that disappears for long stretches.
My comment here would be the same as I just made regarding Jarvis Landry.
Why did we part ways with still productive players like Marshall and Bennett saying they were a distraction and a problem in the locker room only to sign others who are as bad or worse? This makes no sense to me at all.
We need to be rebuilding with younger talent on their way up the ladder not older vets like Bryant or Thomas who've reached their peaks and are headed downward. It's not that they can't contribute but how well and for how much?
There's as much or more chance we end up with multi million dollar headaches as we do All Pro WRs.

Agree. If we are going to "take a chance" on a FA WR, lets go with Robinson who's 25 yo and has already put up #1 type numbers even with a crap QB like Bortles.

AR, Watkins, and Richardson would seem to be our best shots. I'd actually prefer we gambled on AR despite his injury than sign known problem children again, pay them well, send them packing two years later and then find ourselves in the same boat again. The draft also has some good prospects available in round #2-#4.
I'll say again that even a WR core devoid of a true #1 guy but deep in #2 types with a good slot guy and Shaheen being used as he was drafted to be will be a major improvement from what we had in 2017. Cohen is another weapon for the passing game who can be developed even more than he was this past year. All options should be considered.
I don't recall Dez ever being a problem off the field. He is a problem on the field. Always throwing fits and yelling at others. They claim it is a motivational thing, he is trying to pump people up, every time it happens. I don't buy it. He needs the T.O. fit on an experienced team that can handle his problems. A new coach, new QB not a Dez fit.
Dez is 100x better than any receiver on our roster. While there are a few other WR’s that I prefer (Robinson, Watkins) due to age and his on the field tantrums, if it came down to it hell yeah I’d take a chance on Dez. Very good receiver with veteran experience to help Mitchell.
Tough call. He’s a head case that can still play (better than anyone on our team) - is he Marshal 2.0? If we can get him cheap with an incentive based contract then yea. If not, onto the next guy.
