I like his personality. He's a nice mix of young energy and mature thinking. He's decisive about what he likes, he's involved both physically and mentally with his job. He enjoys it and maybe most importantly he sees himself as hands on teacher.
I think any good HC in this era has to have those traits and an understanding that he's the one whose ultimately responsible for the growth in the skill level of his players. I don't think Focks ever "got that". He's the administrative kind of HC who delegates those responsibilities to others under his my way or the highway direction then can't figure out why it hasn't worked as planned.
I don't believe you can run anything effectively that way. Not a widget factory, an NFL team, or the government.

What about Focks working in a fidget wactory? See what I did there?
Again, I really think he could be a very decent OC (maybe even better than Gase), but I just don't see him as HC material just yet.
Whether it's this go 'round or next years Grizz I believe someone is gonna make him their HC. Maybe he still has some dues to pay before he gets there or maybe not. But as I posted before if whoever else we did hire as a HC made him his OC I'm gonna say he'll be a one and done just as Gase was.
Maybe Pace needs to look at this like he did Trubisky and the Bears did with him and see him as a guy whose a little green and inexperienced but still a guy with the skills to grow into the job. It may take doing that just as it took GMcC and Teddy Bears accepting Pace was the best they could get.
This may be a tough and bitter pill to swallow but Chicago is NOT the #1 destination in this years coaching carousel.
