I have no issue w/that. Remember Earnie was hired by the Mc's for the GM search, no doubt he had given recomendations on the coaching position also.
If Pace wanted this guy, but agreed to go w/what Earnie told HH b/c of whatever reason they gave him who am I to judge? I will say this, much like his wanting Mariotta and Wentz I find it comforting that Pace seems to know coaches also. And much like Trubs, if Pace feels the next HC is the guy to have I'll be fine with it.
Quinn? Seriously? That's who I wanted too. I remember that Quinn and the Falcons had pretty much made a deal upon his release. Not sure Pace could have gotten him.
Those who choose to believe Pace chose Focks all on his own are entitled to do so although all evidence points to the contrary and most of it goes beyond simple rumor and being only circumstantial. Quinn, Bowles, and Gase are all names that have been mentioned before and all would probably have been better coaches for a rebuilding effort than Focks. His reputation as a turn around artist seems ill deserved based on how it actually went down here in Denver. David Kaplan ✔ @thekapman
Two #NFL sources confirmed to me this morning that Bears GM Ryan Pace will be in charge of the Bears coaching search when it happens and not team president Ted Phillips. Former GM: “Pace is 100% in charge and he will get the guy he wants. That job is extremely attractive.” 8:27 AM - Dec 27, 2017
Even reading this can be misleading. When Kap writes Two #NFL sources what does the conjure up in the minds of most readers? IMHO it means two people from outside of the Bears organization to most people right? How 'bout if instead those Two #NFL sources are GMcC and Ted Phillips. It would not make the Tweet inaccurate in the least but how we would view this info would be totally different.
Isn't this the exact same kind of manipulation of true fact another infamous Tweeter uses to push his own slanted points of view? Propaganda whether innocent in it's intent or more nefarious is still propaganda slanted to get someones attention on falsehoods and away from searching for real answers. The most obvious deal going today is that most "Fake News" emanates almost entirely from those who cry out the loudest that it is fake news.

He went along with Fox. His first choice was Dan Quinn. 9:25 AM - Dec 27, 2017
Here Kaplan is confirming what many have long suspected. That Focks was not Pace's first choice but that he was persuaded by Accorsi and more than likely GMcC and Phillips as well to accept Focks. But that's not what we've ever been told by the Bears upper management is it? So that would also make them liars wouldn't it?
If they've lied before regarding the pecking order when hiring a HC why would they not do it again? And if the Two #NFL sources came from inside Halas Hall, which is also very possible, then why should we take this as being correct anymore than typical Bears propaganda just as they been used to handing out in the past?
So again, you all can "buy in" to whatever you like but an honest organization would have no need to hide behind the walls of secrecy this organization has constructed in the past and chooses to maintain daily. JMHO
If his first choice was Dan Quinn, it gives some measure of hope that he can get this right.
+1 And the new coaching staff will be coming here in the 4th year of Ryan Pace's rebuilding of the roster talent. The new staff will have better talent to work with than the post-Emery roster talent. Ideally, Pace will get a guy whom he can work well with, and supply that new staff what they need to complete the rebuild with the people tailored to the new scheme needs. It should be more of a fine-tuning thing than an entire 53-man roster rebuild.

Provided Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Dumber stay out of it yeah but can we count on that. Saying any decision is 100% his doesn't mean his bosses won't influence his decision or at least attempt to since paying coaches is on their side of the ledger.
It could be true but based on past history do we know what's let out through media channels in a Tweet by David Kaplan means anymore than a Tweet by Ian Rapoport who claims Teddy Bears is already stirring the coaching stew? Seems there's at least two sides to this coin.

Agreed and most importantly we have a good QB prospect in place. It now makes far more sense as to why Pace made certain he got Trubisky last spring and basically this is it.
We all know there were HC prospects who would no have accepted the Bears job when Cutler was here. I believe there were a limited number who felt they could succeed with him and because of his contract knew he wasn't going anywhere.
Going back to last January and knowing what we know now I'm 99% positive Pace was told Focks had to stay for another year but that he should go ahead with his plans to replace Cutler with Trubisky and plan his draft knowing he could replace Focks after the season if things didn't work out.
That's what Pace did and in addition to that he extended the contracts of key player in key positions like Long, Leno, and Hicks so that core players and team leaders would also be intact along with a LT whose at least better than those we've had for a decade or more.
The add to that a top flight RB, a game breaking gadget back and PR, a Gronk like TE, and a few other core players he can also extend or attempt to re-sign and these will be his selling points when the interviews begin. There will be a lot of competition and he needs a roster he can sell.
It's taken far longer to put this all in place than expected and I believe the reason why is that for two offseasons Pace was trying to satisfy Focks needs and it failed.....badly. This past offseason he set about building his own way instead of Fock's way and basically left him swinging in the wind as the lame duck he knew he would be.
