I think Loggains was calling plays to protect Massive. You'll notice Cutler under more pressure in the 4th when the team tried to run deeper routes from shotgun.
Someone said they could have tried keeping a fb in to help, as the wasn't working. There I agree. Also, maybe you call another screen, but how many times were the bears in a good part of the field for that kind of call?
Phantom blocking penalty negated a decent call/ execution on screen near midfield.
Loggins said the Bears need to execute properly. Well he is 100% right they do. If everyone block their guy, got open in 2 seconds and threw a perfect pass then hell who couldn't execute. Loggins needs to learn to adjust his game plans. Many said they saw no play changes to adjust to the Texans blitzkrieg. He is a young OC and needs to learn fast.

Yes, this really is the kiss of death for any coach. I put in a game plan and all they have to do is follow it and we will win. Players don;t typically follow it 100% and the other team makes adjustments. If he is going to sit on a game plan all game then get ready for a lot of lousy second halves as the other teams adjust (assuming they have coaches that have the ability to do that) and we don't.
If his perception is that it is his players fault for not following his game plan then we have a bad coach. He doesn't get it.

I am not going to pretend to know what Loggains is thinking, but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more from White and Massie in that game. The o was fine before the pick.

+1 I would add one additional point. And I have seen this with some of our failed OCs of the past (not saying Loggains is a failed OC). It wasn't a situation where some of the players were not following the OCs game plan, but that some of the players were incapable of executing the game plan. You could put a gun to Massie's head and if his life depended on it - I'm not sure he was going to be ABLE to block effectively last Sunday. When the run-blocking struggled to set the blocks for a solid run-game, it's not like they were trying to fail. But they were just not ABLE to get it done in that game with any consistency.
Mike Martz had Jay Cutler taking 7 step drops when the OL couldn't protect him. Jay got killed and the "Greatest Show on Soldier Field Grass" never really materialized. It's like Martz was trying to pound the square peg in the round hole, sometimes.
I hope The Log is better, and learns and evolves. Maybe he's just trying to execute what cannot be executed with our existing players. I don't know. We'll know more after this 2nd game I guess.

I agree, but the O was also ok before the Texans made adjustments. One is on players, one is on coaches.

Actually JABF, I appreciate the clarification. Sometimes I know what I mean and I don't elaborate. This is really what I meant. Players don't as a rule not follow the game plan. They sometimes just can't because they are outmatched, don't have the skills, etc. So again, this is on the coaches to understand what their players can do and game plan accordingly.

the adjustments were not as big a factor imo. after the pick, bears are down. the play calling does change over those last two quarters, and anytime longer routes are called for WR, Massie fails to protect. look at hurries/hits/sacks over both halves. why Loggains doesn't get as much slack as White and Massie do, idk. Massie has 30+ games of struggles, White had a year to improve route running/ effort. Loggains is working with new players and went against one of the best Ds in the league...

Interesting. I guess I don't agree, but that's fine.
