I really like to know JABF opinion on Kyle Long being on there seeing that you're always down on him?
Good or bad thing? Name recognition playing a big part of it? or was it his skills and his ability to play through major injuries?
Other players know what kind of player Long is. Even though he played injured, other players know what he is capable of and he still gets votes. Just hope his mismanagement by the Bears has not messed him up. I saw an actual article yesterday that actually spoke about how the Bears mismanagement his return. So it's not just me.
Fox just has been like a hand grenade thrown into the organization. It was time to leave after his first year. He did all he was capable of doing and it was time to move on. Hindsight is nice to have.

I believe that's a very apt way to put it. This organization could not have chosen two worse HCs back to back than they've done. Trestman over Bruce Arians or even Dave Toub was a complete travesty by a guy with no other qualifications to be the Bears GM than Ted Phillips liked him.
Focks came sliding in on a skid greased by his buddy Ernie Accorsi who knew after the Trestman debacle and having just hired a rookie GM it would be an easy sale. At that moment Pace was in no position to resist it and even he could not have imagined all of this. Focks is his albatross.
Now, will GMcC and Teddy Bears finally admit they have no talent for running this team? That would make logical sense based on both their long term and most recent track record but does anyone imagine it will happen? Pace really needs to grow a pair now and keep them out of this next hire.
btw, that great can't miss must have FA Stephone Gilmore didn't make it, but the bears needed to spend whatever to get him right; ie "market value"; would have been as wasteful as Glennon's contract. Stay away from FA's w/a sirname that starts w/"G" apparently.

I'm not down on Kyle Long at all. What gave you that idea?
I think he is arguably our best player. I do worry about his serious injuries and surgeries, and the cumulative effect they may have on his ability to play at a high level - especially considering he will be entering his 30's next year. Age and injuries (serious injuries) can have an effect upon athletes - even the best athletes.
Regarding the Pro Bowl, I have always thought the All Pro team was a better judge of the best NFL talent in a given year. The Pro Bowl is flawed, and we've talked about that here on this messageboard many times. Being an "alternate" on the Pro Bowl is nice. But it doesn't really reflect much as to a player being the top guy at his position for that year. Now, if a player is a 1st team All Pro, (first team) then that is more reflective of being one of the NFL's best players at the position that year. No system is perfect, but being on the 1st team of the All Pro team is more legit, IMHO.
