I think what hurts the most is how far the respect for the Chicago Bears has fallen over the past several years of failure here. We may not be the Cleveland Browns, but we sure took over the Detroit Lions as the joke of the NFCN. We used to joke about the miserable Lions. But for years now they have owned us. Pretty sad to be the Chicago Bears now.
LINK John Fox roasted by Michael Irvin, fans in Bears' ugly loss to Lions Bears coach John Fox has been in the hot seat seemingly forever, and is widely expected to be on the way out in Chicago. But Bears fans, and even NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin, used Chicago's lackluster 20-10 loss to the Lions Saturday evening to once again unload on the coach as a dreadful 4-10 season got even worse.
Irvin was brutally honest about Fox, questioning the first-half game plan limiting quarterback Mitch Trubisky's downfield looks.
"If you ain't gonna let (Trubisky) throw the ball, then get out," Irvin said during halftime.
Once again, Fox's conservative play calling left fans begging for a more aggressive approach. Fans on social media were particularly irked when the Bears, facing a 4th-and-1 at midfield in the first half, opted to punt. The Lions countered with a touchdown on their next drive.
How do ya' say it any better than these guys. They're spot on. The Lions didn't even play all that well today and we still got owned. I've never seen teams worse prepared to play than those Focks has coached here. It's pathetic.

Without any hyperbole: John Fox is by far the worst of all 32 head coaches and It isn’t particularly close. He’s not involved in the Bears offense or defense and basically just stands there. Worst “leader of men” type coach ever. 4:44 PM - Dec 16, 2017

NFL teams don't really tank, the culture doesn't allow for that regardless of what fans think or want, but having John Fox coach is the closest thing 4:09 PM - Dec 16, 2017

I'm beginning to think that he lucked out in Carolina and Denver.
I don't know much about Carolina but I do know a bit about his stint here.
Elway and then GM Brian Xanders hired Focks about a week after Elway became VP of Football Ops for much the same reason he was hired by the Bears. Josh McDaniels had created a mess much like Trestman did and Focks was seen as a guy who could regain control of the team. He did that and far more.
But after going 8-8 in his first year Elway also realized that he needed to stock the team with some vet talent and a top QB very quickly if he expected to win with Focks as HC and having total control of all football ops he went out and got them including Manning. Focks would never have done what he did here without him.
Following the SB loss to Seattle 43-8 when even Elway expressed how completely unprepared the Broncos looked despite having the top offense in he NFL Elway added even more defensive talent in 2014. Once again Focks finished 12-4 and earned the second seed in the playoffs only to lose to Indy and again go one and done for a second time.
The day after Denver lost in that Divisional Round of the playoffs, Fox and the Broncos "mutually agreed to part ways" which was a convenient was for Focks to save face rather than to be fired as he would otherwise have been. Even though Focks had the highest regular season win percentage in team history Elway felt the Broncos hadn't shown enough preparation fight at critical times in the playoffs.
Sounds familiar doesn't it? So we hire Focks where he's about to become the losingest HC in team history. From the top of the mountain to a cellar dweller his rep for having his team less than prepared followed him here and I suspect it may have been much the same in Carolina where he went from 12-4 and his first SB loss to a 2-14 record two years later.
Even with a .719 winning percentage in Denver Focks is now barely a .500 HC. Take that part away and his winning percentage is .453 and .283 as the Bears HC. We need someone who can do better than this.
