Chicago Bears: How Best to Solve the Wide Receiver Issue

Very good read and very true. Too many Bears fans were overreacting after Sunday’s win in regards to Kendall Wright. While it was great to see Mitchell have a great game, I don’t want to go over the top with analysis considering how banged up the Bengals are on Defense as they were missing several starters from the secondary. This holds even more true for Wright. We are talking about a guy that made virtually no impact through the first 13 games. Go back and watch film. When you hear announcers making comments about “The Bears WR’s just aren’t getting open”, Wright is the key culprit. He has underperformed from day one and struggles to get separation and find holes in the D. But yet after one good game against a severely struggling D decimated by injuries and people are all of a sudden calling him a must sign for next year? LOL gimme a f’n break man and No Thanks. There are far better receivers out there we can bring in. I like Inman but he is not a #1 and Mitchell needs help.

In fact only Markus Wheaton and Kevin White will be under contract .... yikes

Inman and Meredith remind me of a similar type of player, but bring them both back would be smart. Meredith, he has shown ability to make plays, but the injury has to make the team leary. Inman should be the guy that is there just in case.

If someone comes in with a similar system as Loggains, Wright might be smart to bring back on the cheap. He has skills, but it does bother me he didn't really appear until Cincinnati. Hopefully Wright shows his value the next few games.

I would be down with Ridley. I'm not concerned about his numbers, he can play. Hurts(his QB) isn't the most gifted passer. Hurts rushing ability and the stable of backs makes the run game Bama's strongest weapon, that doesn't mean Calvin can't play at a high level.

I am trying to identify other, late WRs that would be awesome to grab.

Yeah... I've stopped with the whole WR thing. People make up their minds and that's it. Do we have a WR problem? Yes, we do. Our WRs as a whole are not very good. But they are not any worse than a few other teams that seem to get by. It is our offense in conjunction with the talent level of our WRs in conjunction with who we use and how we use them.

As bad as the WRs are, they are not the biggest problem why the passing game stinks. It is the coaches. But for some.... the talent is what matters. Coaches don't. So, it is what it is. If they get out of the way this next game and let the talent on the field do their job and they call plays to keep them in the game, they might actually surprise themselves.

It is very possible that with Fox resigned to being fired and Loggains badgering him to let him open up the offense, that Foxy told him, do whatever you want and we saw a Loggains offense out there rather than a Fox offense. We'll have to see how they play it this next week to get a better bead on things, but it is possible.
