What we learned from the Chicago Bears win over the Bengals

Here’s what we learned from the Chicago Bears 33-7 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Finally, we have a victory Monday! It’s been far too long, but boy does it feel good. There’s a part of me that wanted to lose to get as high of a draft pick as possible. However, as soon as game time rolls around I’m there rooting for the Chicago Bears to win 100-0. It’s like a sickness.
Anyways, the Bears blew out the Cincinatti Bengals 33-7. All three phases were great and it contributed to a great team win. Now, let’s see what we learned from the game.
1. Let’s start with the most important player going forward: Mitch Trubisky. He completed 25 of 32 passes for 271 yards and one touchdown. He also carried the ball twice for five yards and one rushing touchdown. Hopefully, this comforts the fans that have been calling Trubisky a bust. Dowell Loggains actually called a good game (always a rare feat), which certainly helps. There were run-pass options and bootlegs, which make Trubisky comfortable. I hope this is the game-plan moving forward.
2. The running backs that Ryan Pace has drafted are truly a thunder and lightning duo. Jordan Howard bruised his way for 147 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. Meanwhile, Tarik Cohen had 12 carries for 80 yards. This is a dynamic duo that looks to carry the load in Chicago for many years to come. Also, Howard became the first Chicago Bear to start his career with two straight 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
3. Eddie Jackson came up big for the defense. With Quintin Demps and Adrian Amos out with injury, he is now the lead dog on the back-end. Amos was certainly missed on the 14-yard touchdown by Bengals’ receiver Brandon LaFell (Deon Bush in coverage). Jackson was able to pick up Bush by intercepting an Andy Dalton pass, while also forcing and recovering a fumble.
4. Adam Shaheen made an appearance! Courtesy of our great coaching staff in Chicago, Shaheen has been a ghost the past few games, even after shining against the Detroit Lions a few weeks ago. Maybe the coaches are starting to feel the pressure, but either way Shaheen is a weapon and he was finally utilized. He caught four passes for 44 yards and a touchdown.
5. Kyle Fuller is back to being the player he was earlier in the season. He was absolutely outstanding against the Bengals. He defensed three passes, which is always great. But the best part is that he was targeted nine times today, but only gave up 14 yards, which says a lot about his tackling and coverage abilities. He should definitely be either franchise tagged or resigned in the off-season.

So, not only did the team win, but so did general manager Ryan Pace. His 2017 draft class won the game!
