We feeling a little less doom and gloomy this morning boys?
I am glad that in week-14 we finally saw decent play calling, and beat a bad team. I really expected us to beat the 49ers too... another bad team, but fell short there. We've got 4 wins now. Hurray for us :-)
4 wins is better than 0 wins. Is what I wanted from this season? No...but this team isn't as bad as some were making it out to be...and I think you've seen at times what they can do when they get coaching at a competent level. Unfortunately the competent level of coaching has been hit or miss this season.
I finally got to watch it late last night. I had people over and a bad hangover so the rest was needed.
Did we just see the game slow a bit for Trubs? Was it because of the Bengals lack of run D that opened up the airwys? Logs finally allowed to make toe calls? Trubs big homecoming? Does it matter really? That was a effing great game. If only we could get a grip on the penalties we would have a at least another TD.
I picked other because I feel it is unfair to choose just 1 person when all were worthy, except Compton and his penalties.
IMHO it was a combination of the Bears hitting a beat up and tired team who was now out of the playoffs and also without 5 defensive starters including Burfict who would almost surely have improved their run defense.
The rest I believe came about on offense because Focks let them play. Win or lose following the SF game he knew for sure he'd be fired so there was no longer any reason to play not to lose and allowed Loggains to run his own game plan for a change.

You hit on the Yin and the Yang of it. It's nice to see what the offense could do once the wraps were taken off yet at the same time frustrating to think back on how long it took to get to a point where a lame duck HC finally accepted his fate, stopped playing to not lose, and let his young team play ball. And with many regulars injured it was a young and somewhat inexperience group yesterday.
Yeah, we also got lucky to hit a middle of the road banged up team missing half their defense on a short week but we didn't just eek out a win over a better team. We dominated the game on both sides of the ball. So there is more player talent here than we may have suspected which means we've lacked top coaching talent at the very top and that is about to be corrected in the very near future.
It may bode well for the future but it's still tough to forgive three more seasons of futility with just one win no matter how impressive it may have been. Let's see how it goes from here before we begin to celebrate a rescue from the pit.

+1 I am sure hoping they can bring in a rock solid coaching staff next year. And not just the head coach, but a really solid coaching staff would be a dream come true... and seems doable. The talent is better than it was (at least I think so), and if Pace can do well adding a 4th year of talent to the roster, we could be a very decent team next year. I do believe that. I still believe this team could win a couple more games this year. Trubisky does look like the real deal to me, and next year could be mighty good if that is the case.

If Reich and/or DeFillipo are top contenders, they now are probably gonna be available faster than we thought. Wentz just tore his ACL and is out so Philly, who looked like they were going to the SB, is gonna be one and done in playoffs.
Im sure it won’t happen but somehow I’d love to see Toub as HC and DeF as OC.

You and I are having the same fantasy. Stay out of my fantasy.

Talk about cheap thrills. I hate wasting fantasies on football unless it's the Lingerie Bowl.
You're ignoring your MSU again. All you have to do is tell people you have a great mind and they're supposed to believe it. Seems to work OK for another guy.
