I was disappointed the defense couldn't keep the heat on the QB in the Houston game. Do you think they'll figure it out for the Eagles game and keep the heat on their QB?
I think it depends on how much less they play Floyd vs Houston and Young at OLB and how much more Fangio gets a little more innovative with his rush. I'd like to see more of Bullard and CWash as well and less of Unrein.
I'd change the front up a bit more on the obvious passing downs and try some different combinations looking for a mismatch. Maybe you play Bullard as a 3 tech DT and CWash as a DE and use Goldman or Hicks as the DT and Young rushing as a DE in 4 man front. I would look at blitzing a LB up the middle or bringing a CB like we did with Callahan. Osweiler got the throw off but barely because Callahan was on very fast.
Just something a little less plain vanilla and less of Floyd who at the moment isn't gonna add that much to the rush simply playing as a full time OLB. Right now they need to scheme him more and try to get him some mismatches he can win on speed alone because for now that's all he really has.
Honestly I think this is a type of game Floyd should play the majority of the snaps. They ain't close to the Texans level. Floyd will have to deal with Jason Peters and I would like to see how that match up plays out.

Not to be a total PIA but then why do we hear the coaching staff auditioning OLineman because they want their best five starting but then not do likewise with their OLBs? Since Floyd is most like Young and may replace him someday why would they not alternate those two with Houston, who with McPhee out, is their best pass rusher.

I think it's the same old story O can't keep the ball long enough to give the D a little break. The D always ends being on the field way too long and just to darn hard to keep pressure up that long without getting winded. Mannly made great point on Houston D adjustment in 2nd half they lined up 5 guys on the O line and made everyone block so there was no help for O linemen weak links. That was the success of Houston D and the dwarf & surly one couldn't figure out the counter attack moves.

I agree completely. Just as a change of pace back can be effective to an offense, and an 80 MPH change-up can be effective in baseball, a change of pace LB/pass rusher can be effective to a Defense. That OT gets used to Young or Houston and then they get the speed of Floyd and it changes everything for their set-up. At this point Floyd should be the change of pace guy; send him in often if you want, but he should be the guy to come in and mix things up.
