Because the other team was just a lot better? It's not like we were the only one Philly beat like that.
I'm getting really tired of the whiney emo bullshit in this forum.
PIG, it’s not just “losing to a better team”.
It’s....
Looking awful, incompetent, unprepared, and undisciplined while doing it and
Three years into a rebuild looking not much better off than you were at the start.
If you can't see this team is better than they were 3 years ago you're blind. This team has been close almost every game this year despite losing multiple starters and starting an inexperienced rookie QB with a bunch of special teams guys as WRs. Do we have holes on this team? Yes but we also have lot's of things in place. Two playmaking RBs, an up and coming QB, a solid interior OL, a promising TE prospect, some strong pieces on the DL, and some young talent in the backfield. Did we have any of that in any quantity when Pace got here?
One blowout loss to what is the likely the best team in the league isn't something to worry about. Barring some bizarre series of events we weren't walking out of there looking pretty. It's not even as if we're the only team they did it to.
No light at the end of the tunnel? The Bears have a boarderline top 10 def, a top 5 rb, and solid to great OL(if they could ever get healthy) and for the first time a young high ceiling QB.
How is there no light at the end of the tunnel? How are they even close to the Browns who are right now 1 and 27 games(last year and this year) and 4 in 43 games(last 2 years + this year). Bears had a rough go of it, but they bottomed out and are climbing up. Ya they cannot compete w/legit SB contending clubs yet; did you really expect them to this year?
Dunno, Ric, your assessment seems a little rose-colored to me. I hope you’re right.
I see a team/franchise headed to its 4th straight last place finish who hasn’t had a winning season in 6 years or made the payoffs in 7. That maybe isn’t full-on Brownian yet but it’s getting a little beige.
Guess we were at different places the last few years MP. I saw this on the verge of happening when Lovie was still around. I watched as he and Angelo failed repetedly in the drafts, at all levels after the SB. When Emery took over I was hoping for a complete tear down; but that didn't happen, instead they tried to cling to what little was left of that def and build an O around it, and even doubled down on the mistake that was the Cutler trade by giving him that terrible contract. At that point I knew it was going to be at least 3-5 years before they could get out from under all the bad drafts and Cutler.
Team is in year 3, but really only 1 year away from Cutler w/a rookie qb. The new qb should have been drafted over the last 2 years, not in year 3; especially since he might have had to play(which he did). I'd put that on Pace, but he did at least try; but he was dead set on 1 qb or none each year(we'll see how that works out for him).
We do know that he liked Marcus Mariotta, and so far he was right about him, hopefully Trubs will also be a good one.

So with a top 10 def, a top 5 rb and a high ceiling QB, why are they looking so miserable Ric?
First the qb has a high ceiling that doesn't mean he's reached it yet. Right now he's a super raw rookie qb. Add in no wr's and you have no passing attack, no threat of the pass equals an, at best, up and down rushing game which equates to limited ToP and a worn out def.
And really have they looked miserable? they've played 3 playoff caliber teams(GB-Rogers, Det, Philly) recently. They should have at leat got into OT w/Det, GB was a disappointment as it should have at least been close. Philly was the beat down it should have been b/c they are SB contenders. They have an aggressive O which puts points on the board early and often which allows their def to be hyper aggressive. The Bears never stood a shot yesterday. Didn't go into the game expecting anything less. But up until the bye they were looking like a solid up and coming team; do we all have such short memories? There is a reason you thought they could play with, and likely beat GB; it's of how they were playing, which wasn't miserable.

Sounds like we are good then. All this concern for nothing...
