"In no particular order in the first quarter and a half in Philadelphia on Sunday, the Bears gave up two TDs, threw an interception, committed five penalties, had a punt partially blocked and missed a field goal.
But wait. There was more. The Bears left Zach Ertz wide open in the end zone — wide stinkin’ open — on a play during which Carson Wentz had time to scan the field for his 87th option. The Bears also wasted a timeout on third-and-17 at their 1 because they couldn’t get 11 players on the field. And the Bears saw Kyle Fuller get hurdled for a score because he dived at the receiver instead of trying to make a tackle.
It’s one thing for Fox’s team to play a great team. It’s another for Fox’s team to look undisciplined and unprepared, if not also uncaring too often. Why is Fox still allowed to coach this team? How stupid does this season need to become before Virginia McCaskey gets pissed again?
She and everybody else should’ve been embarrassed at the way the Eagles pantsed the Bears when they went for it on fourth-and-1 at the Bears 35. The Eagles have a kicker with enough leg to hit from 53 yards, but no. The Eagles went for it in a scoreless game because they knew the Bears offense wouldn’t hurt them and the Bears defense wouldn’t be much of an issue, either.
And of course the Eagles picked up the first down. And of course they later converted a third-and-8 on a 15-yard completion to Bears refugee Alshon Jeffery. And of course the Eagles scored on the next play.
Sad. Laughable. Disrespected. Pick a word. They all describe a Bears team that often underscores the lack of progress under this head coach."
It's not just Fox. Yes, the Bears need to sweep this coaching staff out. But I really don't have confidence the franchise will do any better with the new coaching staff. The jury is still out on Ryan Pace as GM too. All he has proven is that he can build a 3-win team. And while I am hopeful Trubisky will be good, let's keep it real here. He hasn't proven anything yet. He could be good. He could be a bust. He could be anything in between.

IMO (and JMO), you are going too far in the other direction of being irrationally upbeat. Take a long view of this team JABF. In the beginning of the year, they beat teams that they had no business beating and they played some tough teams really close. This team has the ability to play. At the VERY least, it has the ability to play better than it has been. And I know that because it has.
When that happens it is always on the coaches. And everyone here knows Fox is part of the problem. How much everyone else is part of the problem can start to bee seen when Fox is gone. Given that the team CAN play better than it has, why don't we just wait and see what happens when a known problem goes away?
We may be closer to being competitive than you think. My biggest worry now is T and the effects of this offense on him.

Here is where I am coming from. It's not just this year's team and John Fox. I get it how this works (after over a half century of being a Bears fan, I get the drill)... Fox will go and another guy comes in. Another coaching staff will come in with the new HC. He will get his 3 or more years to show he's inept. Then he will go too. GMs will come and go too. This is how it has worked in my lifetime. I was so hoping Pace and Fox would be different. That THIS time the Bears would have a great GM and HC. But the coaches look like the past failed coaches. And Pace hasn't proven much of anything yet either. Some rationalize that Pace is just some hapless victim of the evil McCaskeys (I guess that makes it all okay... I guess). Some spin it that 3 wins really isn't that bad because we are "making progress" but I don't see what the hell the progress is. You can't call Trubisky a success yet. Heck, he looks like he's regressing instead of getting better. And I get it, that some think the magic will happen (magically) when the new HC comes here. Maybe. Maybe not.

Am I a bit disappointed? Yep.
Well, the higher you are, the bigger the drop. But there ARE positives. How they have handled T, and seeing how he is trending does have me worried though. Without a franchise QB, we will need another top 2 pick. I am not even going to entertain that thought at this point. I know we have a problem with Fox. I think part of Paces plan is to let Fox fail. He has to. Management would not let him make the pick. In order to have full reign on the next one, he has to let Fox fail spectacularly. Fortunately, Fox has the ability and willingness to do so.

I know the coaches are bad. I do have confidence that the team will make forward progress with Fox gone.

I felt the same way when Lovie Smith was let go. I just knew it was going to get better than that 10-win season (and the Super Bowl loss). Ha. How did that turn out? LOL, we just exchange coaches. Outcome is pretty much the same. Or worse.

I TOTALLY understand. The difference in this case, is I actually think Pace gets it. I am not as confident that he will make all good decisions based on the last FA and GLennon, but I think we have a better shot than before. I want to see how this plays out.

We will see if Pace gets it. Let's watch how he handles the GM job. Some think he has no real power and is just a puppet guy getting a GM title and paycheck. Who knows? All I know is that the team sucks. Year in. Year out. It is the only "constant" in the universe. The Chicago Bears stink it up.

I believe that is an exaggeration of what I have seen said JABF. I think the thought was that Fox had been put on him and that Fox was expected to sort of mentor him. Add to that... Phillips has all of the real power in terms of spending money (ie getting rid of a HC early) and maybe that is why you think people were saying what you said.
In time, Fox has showed how bad he really is, so even if part 1 is true, it has worn off. In terms of #2, that is not going to change, but apparently Pace seems to know how to thread the Teddy needle and is able to get more out of him --- ie the HH redo.
If T turns out to be the real deal, he will be trusted even more. (at this point, I am undecided if that is a good thing). But he will be able to work more independently of Teddy (never a bad thing). And Fox will be gone. It will truly be Pace. And he better be ready to handle the heat.
