So Alshon's new home is 8-1, but Alshon has some ugly looking numbers imo. I'm not up on Philly news so maybe his numbers are reflecting his play in a seriously negative light. Maybe someone can shed some light on how useful AJ is being for Philly, but if these numbers don't improve I can't see Philly justifying resigning AJ if he still wants big $$$dollars$$$... ...but would you?
Salary- 9.5M for 1 year...8.75M guaranteed Targeted - 73 times Catches - 34 Catch Percentage - 46.6%...second worse for the ENTIRE roster. The worse player behind AJ has been targeted 4 times. TD's - 5 100 Yard Games - 0
He's projecting about 900 yds/10 tds/14.7 ypc. I think he's earning his keep. My guess is Philly will try to re-sign him and given his connections there he may decided to stay. If not I guess it would depend somewhat on what things look like around Halas Hall next March. I have a feeling Pace may be looking for a different type of WR and FA but who knows.

I'm not so sure that the Eagles will be aggressive in trying to keep AJ. I have a friend at work who is a big Eagles fan and is active in their online fan community. He tells me that the Eagles were expecting a lot better performance out of AJ and that his deal was basically a "prove it" deal in their minds. My buddy says the fan speculation is AJ is not one of Wentz's faves. They (the Eagles) may go for another FA or a draft choice in the offseason.
BTW, I voted no as well. I prefer my players to be a little less emotionally fragile.
nah man. He didn't want to be here, we offered him a multi year deal and he still walked for less money. I'm also not a fan of re signing players after you've moved on from them(minus the 1 day so they can retire a bear type thing for boarderline or better HoF players).
Go out and find a really good 1 or 2 in FA and then draft a really good WR in the draft early. That will create a ton of competition at the top, forcing quality depth on down. Innman, Meredith, McBride, White, Gentry, + good FA + early draft pick. Now go out and earn a spot.

This is what I am hoping Pace does. I believe our WR woes could change 180-degrees and become a team strength next season. I believe that, coupled with the fact Trubisky will be in his 2nd year of the NFL = a decent (a very decent) offense. The run-game will benefit also, once we have a credible passing threat. I'm thinking we could have a playoff caliber team next year.
I think in most cases when you've moved on from a player you moved on. I wouldn't think of re-marrying my former wife either. But then you have teams like the Pats who just signed Marty B again after GB cut him so it does happen.
For us I think a clean start with Meredith and a combination of those we have and those we sign or draft is probably the best way to go provided Pace can get the guys we need. AJ is simply a fall back possibility in the event that we can't and also that White proves to be the bust he appears to be.
And rather than debate what constitutes a "bust" I'm including both injury and inability to grasp playing WR in the NFL. No matter which reason anyone chooses or a combination of both he's been useless to the Bears and given his draft status players like him who never contribute are usually labeled "busts".
