Welp, I reckon now is a good a time as any for this type of thread. Based on the strength of schedule (.478) and current standings (1-4) they fall into about 4th or 5th position for next year's draft. Too early for mocks and trade down scenarios although I figure we might finish 4-12 with a top 5 pick.
I'll go with ya' on this one J. I'm thinking 4-5 wins and a pick in the top ten again for sure and very possibly a top five. That's more than poor enough to get Fox outta here and get the screws on Ryan Pace turning. He's had three offseasons to improve this roster and so far if anything we're no better off than we were three years ago overall.
The defense has been improved and would be even better if healthy more often but the offense has slid into the depths of despair and even a hot shot young QB won't be able to overcome the lack of receiving talent and the pathetically predictable schemes and play calling. I wouldn't have believed he and Fox could make the offense Trestman left them worse but somehow they've managed it.......or should I say mismanaged it.

Yup Soul, that could be a whole different thread on it's own. The talent level on the O is really bad. Barely any playmakers. I have to hope we can get a good set WR's out of the draft and free agency.

Getting Meredith back will help but at best he's a #2 type guy. I'm chalking White up as a lost cause. He not only lacks the skills of an NFL WR but by now his confidence will be shot in the ass along with his once 4.35 speed. Only Kate Upton has a bigger bust than we have in this guy.
Wright is a mediocre slot guy who may stick around but from what I've seen so far Wheaton is simply a smaller healthier version of White. He seems to be a "one trick pony" speed guy on a team who never throws downfield so why we signed him to begin with is beyond me. Stick him in the slot too and keep whichever wins but one needs to go.
IMHO it'll be nearly impossible to do a makeover at WR unless Pace is willing to spend on a top UFA. Unless the draft has another Julio Jones I can't see spending a top ten pick on another WR when we need another pass rusher and more help in the secondary. It's the offense that needs the help but seldom do you find players worth top ten picks who aren't QBs.
Whatever they do Pace needs to start getting a whole lot smarter about FA than he's been so far. He's made a couple of good moves but this offseason was a laugher. A total embarrassment that would cost many GMs their jobs.

I think tarding doen could net us a late 1st and mid 2nd or smething thereabouts. I think our high 2nd should focus on WR plus hitting that HR in free agency with a tier I WR.
Our whole offense is not playing well. Watching yesterday's game to see Trubs running for his life shows us we still need a ton of help with our O-line. I hope Bears invest heavily with a strong O-line. If Whitehair can put his act back together then we have a very good interior O-line with our weakest spots being at RT then LT.
Fixing up our O-line will not only help Howard/Cohen in the run game but also give our QB a few more seconds in the pocket. It be great to get an O-line similar to the Packers. Combine that with Trubs ability to escape the pocket when needed and we can have a pretty deadly offense once you add the WRs in.

I hope to have really good discussions in the coming weeks about off seasons needs and scenarios but would really like to focus this thread on where we are weekly with draft position.
This schedule was brutal in the 1st half, but the team can still win 5 on the last 1/2 of the season. I would guess they finish closer to the 7th pick.

JABF/RIC/BIH, can you sticky this thread please?
Great minds must think alike. I called 4-12 in a different thread an hour ago.
Yeah, Cleveland and San Fran are the only truly winnable games left so we could easily finish 2-14 too. In any event, we are very likely gonna be picking top-7 and quite possibly top 3 or 4.

MPB, good stuff. Ric says the schedule looks better in the 2nd half and I am not a pro tanker but I personally not mind getting a top 4/5 pick again to trade down and get 3 top picks in the 1st/2nd round. We could land a tackle with the 1st, a WR with the next, and edge rusher with the last of the high picks. Like I said way too early for mocks (bye week may be better timing).
