I said this in chat yesterday but will post it again: Glennon is seriously limited - especially limited - because of the lack of a talented WR group. That might sound obvious, but there's a bit of nuance to it. Glennon has a few strengths and one of his biggest strengths is his ability to execute a plan. The problem becomes that when you lose your starting three receivers (though Wheaton is back now), your ability to have a solid plan is hampered. Since he's trying to get up to speed with the new receivers, his strength is SERIOUSLY limited and, since he can't buy any time due to his lack of mobility, he can't give the receivers time to make improvisations or alterations to the plan. Instead, he either throws it away, takes the sack, or, as we've seen a couple times, throws an interception.
Trubisky, because he can buy more time in the pocket or out of it can give young inexperienced receivers more time to adjust to what they're seeing and feeling AND he can find them since he can escape the pocket into space and see the field better. Unless he's really behind schedule in his development, I think now is the time to start Trubisky. Glennon is not in a system that can accommodate him and he's become a liability to the team since. We are a run first team and need to stay that way but we have to be able to at least threaten a pass to keep the running game sustainable.
Mitch gives us that. I no longer think Glennon does.

I've felt this way since pre-season. Now is a great time to put him in. If anyone here thinks we can beat GB at GB with Glennon at the helm then You are in for a big letdown on Thursday
You know, that would probably be an ideal game for him to start against the worst D in the league. And out of town so our fans can't boo him of he struggles. I can't believe I have to type that, but if I were the front office, given what they gambled on Mitch, I would want the game with the best chance of his success without the fickle fan base turning on him too quickly.
+1 The brain dead Chicago Bears fans actually booed Trubisky when he attended a Bulls game after the draft & they introduced him on the video board. Can you believe that?

I believe you are 100% right here. I'm certainly seeing it this way after 3 games now ^^^^^
Wait for a weaker defense...even if it is in a loud and unfriendly dome?!?!
That is loser talk.
#Week5
I agree and besides NO is a far better team at home than on the road as the dome/turf helps their offense. You can analyze this to death and talk yourself out of starting MT10 in virtually any scenario. There's no perfect time. I agree with you that week 5 vs Minny at home coming off the "mini-bye" with extra prep time seems as good as any to me.
I don't think the home fans are going to turn against Trub even if he has a clunker game his first outing (or several). They all know he's a rookie and is going have growing pains. They all know as well the alternative is sticking with Glennon who's limitations are obvious for everyone to see.
I just re-watched the Steelers game on GamePass and saw Glennon nearly throw the game away twice in the 4th with inaccurate passes. I'm really at a loss to explain how Glennon's supposed strengths ("veteran decision making", "game management skills") give us the better chance to win when my heart is in my throat every time he drops back. I saw him make a couple of nice throws and all the rest were checkdowns, screens, or WTF type passes.
Biggs is pretty connected so his prediction is probably going to end up being right but that doesn't necessarily make it the correct decision.
Spot on. I don't even see a rational analysis. I see made up excuses passed off as reasons that in reality are an insult to every fan who supports this team. It's this "you'll take whatever we decide to give you" attitude that's been coming out of Halas Hall for so long now that offends me and is the primary reason I'm as angry about it as I am.
Bears fans would like to see what Trubisky can do with that offense. They expect some issues and some stumbling along the way but they also expect to see something more than they have. Something more dynamic and more exciting. Wins and losses matter less than progress and the entertainment factor. Fans want to see some light at the end of this long tunnel the McCaskeys have put them through and they hope Trubisky is that light.
I have never experienced any sports organization so entrenched in doing things as backwards as the Bears have for decades. They stubbornly adhere to what doesn't work and even if they choose to pass out a reason or two it seldom makes sense to anyone with half an ounce of common sense which they apparently lack by the ton. By now the thinking that they are somehow protecting Trubisky from the something isn't even selling so why keep it up.
We took Trubisky over DeShaun Watson and yet Watson started yesterday and damn near beat NE in NE. Yeah he made some mistakes but it took a 5 TD game outta Brady to pull out a win with 23 seconds left on the clock. I don't expect much to change but stop trying to tell us the Glennon is a cool and cagey vet who gives us the best chance to win when it's an obvious lie. He did far more to lose that game yesterday then he contributed to the win.

There are posters on this board who slammed the pick as a busted pick.

Yep, should have taken Solomon Thomas or Jamal Adams(lol a S at 3, let alone 2). Neither of who have done squat. Actually the top of this draft isn't looking specatular, although it's really early way to soon to tell.

I can understand fans not liking the pick. But I can't understand why they would boo the young man at a game like this. It's not his fault he got drafted by the Chicago Bears. What's wrong with these people?
