The Good
The Bad
Um...everything?!?!?
Quarterback is pretty obvious. Here I thought Glennon just needed to fall into a groove, but the difference one game made was pretty astounding. Everything you just hated about quarterbacks like Rex Grossman and Jay Cutler, but with the knowledge that there was none of that upside. It was more like watching Todd Collins again...except Collins would never earn eighteen million dollars for it.
Remember when the Bears had the best interior OL in the League? It sure feels like a hundred years ago now. Poor Cody Whitehair never got a chance to settle in after the worst game of musical chairs he has probably ever played in a single football game in his entire life. Now you almost have to push Long to play because the interior depth is just shot. The good news on that is he can take over for Sitton at RG and not have to deal with the learning curve of switching sides. More bad news is he probably physically is not up to the job. Football Gods help us if a tackle goes down next.
Remember when the Bears were going to be a run first team? It sure feels like a thousand years ago now. Jordan Howard has just been a rumor and was last seen in an arm sling. Cohen is a fun toy, but not your classic workhorse...and a rookie. As he proved with the worst ST play of this young season. Is it time to send Jeremy Langford flowers and a hallmark card? Re-sign Kadeem Carey? Didn't we already sign Benny Cunningham? Is he in a sling too?!?
The Ugly
Ryan Pace...come on down. This mess is all yours now buddy. The roster. The coaches. The piling injuries. The quarterback controversy. The bad pressers and even worse press.
All.
On.
You.
And all Bear Nation is going to get from you is more deafening silence. I have to wonder if it really was John Fox defending Mike Glennon's abortion in Tampa Bay or is he just delivering the words Pace will not come out and say himself. Even if that was all John Fox...Ryan Pace is looking gutless anyway you slice it. Everyone makes mistakes, but the only one owning up to them is the craptastic quarterback Pace made his number one priority in Free Agency.
Since the day he was hired, Pace has overturned everything on this team and it is coming out the other end even worse. The Bears are a little over ten days away from easily being 0-4 and it's not like the schedule lightens up after that. So will Pace continue to hide in his office until another offseason of hope or will he intervene this free fall and start to look like an actual manager. Admit Glennon was not the player you hoped he would be and that the starting job is no longer his. Make a huge splash and admit that John Fox is not the coach you hoped he would be and that the direction of the entire team is no longer up to him. Hell, make a trade for a weapon on offense that is not a five and half foot tall rookie and admit that the offense is a total disaster and one unit will no longer bring the entire team down.
Just.
Do.
Something.
Because this season got real ugly real quick, but it can most certainly get even uglier even quicker.
