Heck I remember when Barkely was being touted as a potential 1st rounder while he was at USC - sure is amazing how quickly QB's can go from the penthouse to the outhouse once they reach the NFL . It just goes to show you how important having a truly strong enough arm is at this level , cuz not enough zip = int's . That said , I also wonder how much of a chance he's really been given , cuz I think some guys get pigeon-holed b4 they've even gotten out of the starting gate . At the very least he has a better pedigree than most of the 3rd stringers we've had around here ... so there might be something there if it comes to that .
USC QBs have a pretty high failure rate once they reach the NFL blue and I think the scouting reports on Barkley sum that up too. If a team can provide him with enough tools and some protection he can probably win some games but he's not a guy who will ever carry a team on his own.
A decent #2 prospect is all I think he really ever will be.

Sounds like a perfect Bears QB
Few truly can but he's still several cuts below Cutler when is comes to basic QB skills.
When you figure there are no less than 64 QBs on NFL rosters and maybe 3 or 4 at most can do that with any consistency it's a pretty rare deal. Cutler can't BUT he's second only to Brady in 4th Q comeback wins so he's at least got that to his credit.
