I get almost everyone saying Trubisky should sit a year, but what if he decisively wins every competition in camp/ preseason. Do you still think he should sit?
He won't; if he does play him, but he won't. Kid rarely if ever audibled, didn't know what a hard count was and has to learn how to drop back from center and release the ball on time.
Rosenrant can blather his consistent negativity all he wants - it doesn't make him right . Anybody else feel like they were doing a new job better their 2nd year than their first ? I always did and it's probably the same for 99.9% of us .
So , I like the idea of sitting Mitch his 1st year cuz he'll be all the better for it when he returns in his 2nd year , and he'll have a higher likelihood for success .

I suspect he will get a lot of playing time in preseason...

The probably split 2nd team reps w/Sanchez and get all of the 3rd team reps.
Rosenbloom has become irrelevant as a credible source for sports info about the Bears. His schtick gets old after you read a few of the same articles from him. It's always the same thing. He takes a bit of truth and stirs in his crap to spin out the same story, just a different week. He's kind of a caricature of a legit writer. I get it. He hates the Bears.

I don't think he hates the Bears, I think he wants clicks, calls and people talking about his article so he does this over the stop hyperbole to get what he wants. Same w/Bernstien and Goff. And yes it wears out after awhile.

+1 That's probably it. I read about the Bears to learn more about whats going on with the team. I have my favorite writers whom I look forward to reading their articles when they come out. I may not agree with everything they write, but they do have good info that I appreciate knowing. In contrast, Rosenbloom's articles are just rants. I get nothing out of reading them. So I try to steer clear of them. It's just a waste of my time to read one of them.

Quite frankly I'm tired of Rosenbloom and people like Bernstein. The bitch and moan act is getting old and tiresome. Is, their legit complaints yes.. But come on...

A fair but tricky question to answer IMO.
Here is my opinion. If he is ready, he should play. So the real ringer in this is..... if he decisively wins every competition, does that mean he is ready? Or does it mean he is better than the so-so's he has beat?
Normally, I would say that even if the second is true then play him, but when we are talking about a college rookie that we are counting on being our franchise QB for 10+ years, I want to err on the side of caution. I have seen what being pounded in the NFL does to a rookie QB both watching the Bears and other teams that have let that happen (Carr).
A guy may win team competitions, but playing against live bullets and reading what the defenses of opposing teams are doing is on a different level. How do you know he can or can't do those things unless he actually tries? You really can't IMO. Which is what makes this question tricky. Yes, if he is ready, play him. But winning internal competitions does not make him ready. Preseason will provide a window --- but there I am assuming he will get little more than garbage time just to get acclimated --- not sure what the plan in preseason is for him.
So I don't want him out there until ready, but can't tell he is ready until you see if he gets the daylights pounded out of him or not. Then if he does, do you pull him? What does that do to his confidence?
I guess in the end, I would rather let him sit even if he is ready and we don;t know it yet than to put him out there before he is ready but we think he is ready. The damage to our long term is greater than the loss of games for one season. We've lost games in one season, and we survived. We are most of the way down this QB tunnel. To ruin it because of impatience or bad handling would just kill us. We would have to get another high pick, hope we have the right guy..... I've gone down that route and it finally seems we are getting out of the tunnel. The bottom line is I would rather err on the side of caution even if it costs us some games. That is my preference. He could go out there and light it up, but if he can do that, he can also still do that six months later. So I see the risk, but I don't see that the gain is worth it. JMO.
