Trubisky pleased with his progress as Bears continue final week of OTAs
LAKE FOREST — Mitch Trubisky can obviously sling the football and, regardless of what you've heard, he indeed read progressions in North Carolina's spread attack before delivering it, too.
What the No. 2 overall pick admits is an adjustment as part of his new reality — being the face of one of the NFL’s charter franchises — is learning to eat, drink and breathe football.
“It wasn't really a surprise, but I would just say the realization of how much time you actually have to put in to be an NFL quarterback, NFL player in general,” Trubisky said Tuesday following the Bears’ final OTA open to the media.
“Taking care of your body, studying all day, all night, right before you go to bed; it's all about blocking out distractions and how good you want to be.”
And Trubisky was clear regarding his expectations for himself: being an NFL quarterback is what he's “born to do."
Chicago’s only remaining unsigned draft pick isn't worried about his contract, leaving that to his agent. He isn’t concerned with the proliferation of practice reps in a crowded QB room — though he’s getting more, and with the second team he says, with Mark Sanchez sidelined until camp with a knee injury.
