New Zealander Paul Lasike has made the Chicago Bears' final roster for the 2016 season.

The 26-year-old Aucklander had a superb pre-season for the Bears, the fullback turning heads with several runs, including one in their final pre-season match last week.

The Bears confirmed on their website that Lasike secured a spot on their 53-man roster, a move which was first revealed in several reports out of Chicago, including one from Chris Emma, a reporter for 670 The Score and CBS Chicago.

Lasike, a former rugby player, was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Arizona Cardinals in 2015 but failed to survive the final selection processes.

Lasike posted a one-word tweet on Twitter on Sunday morning (NZ time): "Blessed."

I would have liked to see more from him but I know he was a part of all five phases of STeams (punt coverage, kickoff coverage, punt returns, kickoff returns, and field goals). In that regard, he's more valuable than Jacq.

Agreed. Three cheers for "the Kiwi". I've known a few rugby players and those guys are bull dogs and very acclimated to the toughness and contact it takes to be a blocking FB and short yardage "ace" in the NFL and his STeams work just adds more value.

I've wanted a John Kuhn type RB forever and when he was about to become a FA in the past I was hoping we could sign him. Now we seem to have our own "Kuhn type" back and I hope he does well. The guy looks like a real bull out there when he has the ball in his hands.

That was another good name for a FB wasn't it shorty? Paul Lasike. Hmmmm, yeah that'll work too. FBs should have short easy to remember names I think. It's my new theory on player personnel management. LOL
