(CBS) The Bears have inked three-time Pro Bowl guard Kyle Long to a four-year extension, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Long, a Pro Bowl player in each of his first three NFL seasons, will receive $40 million in the deal, with $30 million guaranteed.
The 27-year-old Long joined the likes of Brian Urlacher, Dick Butkus, Gale Sayers, Mike Ditka, Harlon Hill and Rick Casares as the only Bears to reach the Pro Bowl in each of their first three NFL seasons.
After spending a season playing right tackle, Long is back to working at his more comfortable position of right guard.
The news of Long’s extension coincides with the Bears finalizing their roster at 53 on Saturday. They open the season next Sunday in Houston against the Texans.
Long is expected to return from a shoulder injury this week.
