I think it's worth pointing out that plenty of people, you included, were concerned that Fox was really running the show, not Pace. This pick completely dispels that allegation. This pick was clearly Ryan Pace's.
Prior to this draft I do believe Fox had quite a bit of input on our picks and I also believe who we chose tends to affirm that. I do agree this was primarily Pace's decision but counter to at least one or two articles I've read it no longer seems as if Fox was kept totally in the dark about it. From what I've read the pick had his blessings as well.
I do want to emphasize that I'm not altogether unhappy with Trubisky but I still feel we jumped a year too soon. In a very deep draft that would have allowed us to add several more potential starters or young reserves who may have become starters next year we actually spent picks to move up one spot as opposed to trading down and adding picks. THAT may come back to haunt us if Trubisky isn't as good as advertised.
