"Glennon would face a simple task — hand the ball off to Jordan Howard, protect the football and give the Bears a chance to win"
Lovie Smith ball. Back to the future. I'm sorry, I just can't get too pumped up about watching this again. A well-trained circus monkey could do this. You won't score or win much though. Another mediocre season. LOL, we are used to these though.
lol you say that but Barkely Cutler and Hoyer couldn't

You're right about Cutler and Barkley. Hoyer seemed to be able to protect the ball better... I'm just going off memory though and could be wrong. And if the bar is set this low, then I really don't care who plays QB. Just get a guy with a pulse to "do the monkey thing" and hand the football off, and forget about scoring much on offense. Get your 10 to 17 points per game and let the losses mount up.
And to be honest, if the Bears would still go QB in the 1st or 2nd round of this draft - in addition to signing Glennon - then I'd be feeling better about it all. But if they just kick the QB can down the road by drafting a kid in the mid to late rounds of this draft, then I'm not going to feel any warm fuzzies about the team. It's just another mediocre year with little hope in sight for the team in general and the QB situation in particular.

Again imo this is 1 piece of the puzzle, vet qb w/some upside + rookie qb + shaw. Id be more disheartened if I thought this was a Cutler type move and it was Cutlers job for the next several years, I don't think that's the case.

A funny thing about Hoyer. You are right, he did protect the ball better with the Bears. But he never did earlier on! In fact he usually had more INT than TDs! So, if Hoyer could improve in that regard so can a guy like Glennon.

I see it that way also. My hope though, is that the rookie QB will be a 2nd round pick and not just another Enderle, Lafevour, Fales type of pick. There are 3 or 4 solid QBs in this draft and one could fall to us in that early 2nd round. That guy will probably need time to transition to the NFL, and it makes sense to have a guy like Glennon starting while the youngster is developing. I am okay with that. And I think that could VERY well happen and a guy like Kizer/Turbisky/Watson/Mahomes end up available to us in that 2nd round. If not, then go for the second-tier QBs, Peterman or Webb. After those two guys, the talent seems to drop to the third-tier guys. Maybe Kaaya could be in that second-tier too... I don't know. But you get my point. I'm hoping the Bears go aggressively after a QB in the draft, even if they do sign Glennon.

Agreed anything other past the 3rd round is going to be a likely waste of a qb pick, those guys just don't tend to work out.

I know we need to fix our O and draft a QB. However I was thinking about our running game and how awesome Howard was in his rookie year. But wouldn't it be great to have another good RB, so that Howard wouldn't have to play almost every snap?
Call me crazy, but I think Pace should pick up the phone and call Latavius Murray's agent and ask how much he wants. I know there are far more important positions to fix, but keeping Howard from getting hurt wouldn't be such a bad idea imo. I'm not saying we must sign another RB, just call the guy and listen.
FWIW I also think we could trade Langford for a 6th rd pick.

JABF, lets also not forget there's a chance Pace may be able to trade down from #3 a bit and get extra ammo to move back into the late 1st with the #36 pick. There's value in that because the 5th year option is particularly useful with QBs since theyre so expensive. That's what Minny did with Teddy B a few years ago and it looked like a genius move until he went down with that freak injury in practice last year.

I would love to see them fall back into the top 10 a little, still get a DB there, and then get an extra 2nd or 3rd that they could use to jump back into the first IF one of the top 3 qb's does fall.
Not a Minny fan, but I do feel terrible for their team, and Teddy B-side b/c of how that went down. To do that kind of damage w/out getting touched is just insane.
