There is a big difference between this board during the combine than any other board I have ever been on. Usually there is a lot of talk about this guys speed, or that guys jump and how that means that he is a sure pro bowler or he needs to be in the top ten. Sure, it's neat to keep up with what the guys at the combine are doing but it is obvious that the people on this forum have the right perspective on the combine.
It is just a way of a player moving up or down based on criteria that do not affect how they have played in college. The combine is a GREAT tool for teams. They have to measure these guys and they need to speak to them to gauge their personality and football IQ. It saves a TON of time and money to do it all at the same place. It is also a great eye opener to see some athleticism that maybe they did not realize was there, but all that does is lift the potential ceiling. Most of which will never be realized. The film continues to be the best tool to evaluate the players, and yet with all the eyes on the players and all of the expertise and tools money can buy, there will be many mistakes made. 'Sure thing" guys will bomb and there will be a few guys that no one saw coming that will make huge contributions.
I can't wait for this years draft to play out and even more, to see how the picks do over the next few years.
I like how we keep it respectful here, even when we have differing opinions about things. There are knowledgeable people here too.
One thing about the Combine is that it gave us some fresh stuff to talk about. It perked things up a bit here. And I am getting excited about free agency and the draft. Pace seems to be decent spotting talent, and this 3rd year could end up good for us. Now if the coaching can step up, I'm gonna be a happy camper.
yeah, I'm pumped about FA. There are usually some good rumors on the first day of "legal" discussions. There will be rumors of what is going on in only 2 days and in 4 days, we will know who Pace got us in the first go around.

To be honest, I don't worry too much about Pace restoring the talent we need to this roster. I really don't worry about the QB thing. I feel like Pace will get it figured out. It is the coaching that is the big question mark for me.

About the QB situation, I think Pace is content with the QBs the Bears had on the roster last year that might even include Cutler, truly hope not. As far as having faith in Pace to restore the Bears, I just don't see it. Like JA and Lovie, Pace and Fox have no clue that to be a winning team it take all three segments, not just the Defense and ST. To date Pace nor Fox haven't shown they are commended to building a strong Offense in fact just the oppose has happen.
White, Grasu both can't seem to make on to the field (So far bust) Fabuluje not on the team Whitehair, great pick, Howard this a joke Pace nor Fox didn't have clue this kid was as good as he has been. So far it's 3 picks not making the field, one true good pick and one damn lucky pick. Okay then just a couple of key losses Pro Bowl RB, WR and TE and what replacement did Pace bring in to replace them NONE, I am sure someone will think what about Howard, Pace never pick him to replace Forte.
Its Pace's job to bring the talent to the team. Its Fox's job to place said talent where he believes is best. Don't blame Pace on Howard. He drafted Howard after all. Blame Howard on both Fox and Loggain. Both of which had no idea what they had in him.
When FA hits, this will determine what Pace's faith is with this team. Do we not use our cap space and attempt to win or do we do what we did last year and go after the underrated players which haven't really worked out for him besides for Hicks.
Mcphee - Can't stay healthy Trevathan - Another injury issue Royal - Another injury issue Porter - Another injury issue
This is also why I'm not shocked with the Jeffery situation. Imagine if Jeffery once again is out for 6+ games. Imagine the uproar this board will have on Pace for signing him to big money.

I've been purposefully avoiding football articles and talk until very recently. Trying to hold off (it's a LONG offseason after all) until FA was about to kick off and things finally start to get interesting.
We should soon find out about Jeffery, Glennon, and how we are positioned for the draft.

But did anybody jump out of a pool this year? Isn't that the most important measurement? Bears history says it is...
Seriously, though, I agree, this board is the best for discussing worthy (10/10 football posts???) news and not just blabbing about numbers (unless they're 38-24-36...those numbers are always worth discussion). With FA about to begin, it should get interesting quickly.
I was thinking about this thread some more, and the more I thought about it, the more I wondered what all the hype is about anyway. I mean the combine is important and all, but I don't get my cheeseburgers from it, just the bun....
