Tyler Bray. How in the heck has he stuck with the Chiefs since 2013 coming in as an UDFA? I understand he was many NFL qualities: big arm, classic 6'6"-232lbs size and was producive in college. His big flaw was lack of maturity and poor habits.
Back in 2012, they had Matt Cassel as a starter with Brady Quinn and Ricky Stanzi behind him. It was 2013 that the Chiefs made a change at QB that helped them in a big way when they traded a 2013 and 2014 2nd round picks for Alex Smith. Adding Smith lead to Cassel's exit to Minny. Other QBs to be added, some are gone now, are: Chase Daniel, Aaron Murray, Nick Foles, and Kevin Hogan. Talk about a team doing everything to find their man at QB.
Aside from all the competition Bray has had to fend off, he has dealt with injuries. First off, he made the 53man roster in 2013, but was inactive for all games asidea from the final regular season game he didn't not play in. In 2014, he ended the season on IR, but I wonder if that wasn't a way to keep him on the team, but not to lose him. January of 2015, he tore his ACL and eventually ended up on the Non-Football Injury list.
That brings us to this past season, 2016. With two promising kids in Murray and Hogan, I saw no way someone like Bray could stick, but he did. Smith, Foles, and Bray... those 3 are the Chiefs QBs heading into the 2017 offseason with rumblings that they want a starter better than Alex Smith. He's only 25 years old. Will some team find him and become a gem? I mean, why has Reid kept him around? If he's grown up and still has his cannon, I don't see why he wouldn't.. idk, I just find him interesting.
