Athletically he seems to have a lot to offer. But I do wonder if he got ruined at Notre Dame playing in such a dysfunctional program, with the crazy moves by their head coach. So much of the QB game is mental. Cutler seems to be a good example of a guy who is gifted with the athletic ability, but who lacks the mental tools to live up to his physical potential.
I'm not saying this is the case with Kizer, but you know, I do wonder about it a bit. I wonder if ND coach, Brian Kelly ruined this kid. In hindsight, it's too bad he went to ND. I don't follow college football much at all. But this afternoon I was reading about the dysfunction at Notre Dame with Brian Kelly. What a crapfest program. And how they handled Kizer there seems pretty bad.
Any thoughts on this? Does it matter, or will a QB coming to the Bears be able to have a new beginning here and not be affected by his college experience, if it was a bad experience?
All this will come out in interviews if it is a problem, then that will be why he slides. If he was at ND, and was legitimately at ND(ie his HS grades were legit) then I don't think it will be a huge issue.

Thanks for posting your opinion on this, Ric. Watching the games with Kizer at QB, he looks like he has every physical attribute you could ever want in an NFL quarterback. But after the Cutler experience, I sure don't want another guy that lacks the mental attributes to be a solid NFL quarterback.

I still believe Cutlers problem wasn't intellegence but lack of willingenss to improve his game. He seemed to believe his arm was good enough to just go out there and play schoolball and didn't need to grow as an nfl qb. He never lacked for confidence though, There is definite reason to worry about his confidence, and his ability to handle the stress, but again the interviews are brutal and meant to bring these things out.

Nobody wants to suck. These guys all want to be like Tom Brady and be the stud hero. Unfortunately only a tiny fraction of the population (like 1 in a zillion people) can be a stud QB at the NFL level. I've seen 50+ years of Cutlers at the NFL level. Strong arm, but no mental gears to leverage the physical talent. It's just the way it is at the NFL level. A stud QB is a rare thing indeed.

Cutler didn't and doesn't believe he sucks, that's the problem.
