You may wonder what does this soccer team have to do w/ the Bears? Well, if they're really coming back to Soldier Field that means at least 17 additional 90min games every season. The turf seemed to be getting better lately and now this. Definitely not a fan of this if true. Can't they just move to U.S. Cellular Field? They've got plenty of space.
Report: Fire negotiating exit from SeatGeek Stadium By Brian Sandalow - April 6th, 2019
The Fire are trying to move back to Chicago. And perhaps with a different identity.
The Athletic first reported Friday the Fire, MLS and the Village of Bridgeview are negotiating to end a lease that brought the team to the southwest suburb in June 2006. It is unclear how much the Fire would have to pay to exit the lease — which runs through 2036 — to move back to Chicago and Soldier Field.
Soldier Field had been looking great in recent years. It would be a shame to see the City begin to book a bunch of stuff again at SF and have the field become a piece of crap again. This is what happens when you don't own your stadium and the city can get greedy for cash and rent the place out to just about anything. Soccer is not as bad as some of the other things the city has rented to in the past. They've had everything from music concerts to monster truck shows over the years. But it seemed like the city had cut back on renting SF out in recent years and the field looked decent as a result.
It's not so much the field surface that makes the field good, so much as the crazy stuff they allow on the field. Even turf is going to be crap if you let in a bunch of events that destroy it.
The McCaskeys will never leave SF. They must have a sweet deal with the Park District for use of the field.

Honest question here, are the McCs wealthy enough to buy SF, if so, why haven't they done it already?

Actually the Bears got stuck in an extremely long term lease. They are there through 2033.

Oh yeah, the Suh traps are going to be back.
This will allow for the field to be the 13th man by tackling and injuring players on the field.
The goal is that most of these will happen to visiting teams, as the Bears will be more familiar with the various locations of the Park District Suh traps.

LOL, I had totally forgotten about those old Suh traps. That was from a few messageboards ago :-)

Yeah, I agree, it would make sense to not lay out a bunch of throw rugs in the form of fresh sod to cover up the huge holes from soccer games and concerts if the plan is to get the ball more to a guy nicknamed "The Human Joystick".
