The Bears (ie, Ryan Pace) better learn and start playing this game correctly if they want to achieve sustained success.  Its looking like they are getting it and I'm glad to see it.  We finally have a roster solid enough that we don't have to be major players in FA anymore.  We can now become net exporters rather than net importers so to speak.

Love him or hate him, Hoodie plays the game brilliantly and doing so is IMHO a substantial part of the reason New England is a playoff team year after year.  Bellicheck is constantly extracting short-term value for 1-2 years from vet players and then letting them walk away in FA and get paid/overpaid by other teams.  He pockets comp picks almost every year.  He's also genius at extending only his key players coming off rookie contracts and letting the non-critical ones get paid elsewhere in FA.  Again--comp picks.  That's what keeps the shelves constantly re-stocked with young talent at an affordable price to surround your high-salary core.  Does anyone here think BB would have paid $10+m/yr to keep Adrian Amos?  Of course not.  He let's "good but not critical" players go all the time.
